Chapter 2:

The Letter 'S'

The City Far from Bliss

Blitzkrieg had been assigned a mission, his first, and it was with someone else. The person who assigned him his mission was extremely blunt and concise. It was made clear that if this mission wasn’t completed, Blitzkrieg wouldn’t live much longer. He had been assigned to break into the 13th National Hero Facility, and destroy all documents under the letter ‘S’ in the file room. There was also a secondary objective of destroying the underground servers.

He looked into his closet, his uniform stared back at him. He could wear that glorious piece of fabric, or he could sneak in with civilian clothes. To his dismay, his partner, Loreleye, had chosen to go in sneakily. Blitzkrieg knew nothing of Loreleye, not if they were a man or a woman, or more importantly, their powers.

He grabbed his old jumpsuit, he was a skilled mechanic, but he figured a life of crime would be better. More interesting, even describable as spicy. He slipped on the jumpsuit. Then, he looked at his worn boots, tarnished with oil as he walked forward to slip them on. He put the front of his foot, however his heel would not go in. He lifted up his left foot and tried to pry the boot on. He lost his balance and leaned into his wall. Hopping on over he planted himself on his bed, laying backwards and fighting for his life for his shoe to get put on. Finally, after a battle that took him through hell and shoe horn, he had both boots on, tied on tight.

He walked out, boots clicking against the hardwood floor of his hallway. He grabbed his keys hanging on his left side, unlocked the door, and left. Clicking on the button, he turned on his Saturn SUV.

‘Let’s get the good playlist’ he thought to himself looking down at his phone.

Loreleye

Loreleye was a fortunate benefactor of being born into a rich family. Riches never truly satisfied her, she instead chased that feeling of breaking the law. She had a previous record of a couple devious actions, but nothing as evil as now. She had sought the underground operations and quickly found them. She now had to work with ‘Blitzkrieg’ a name which she herself found distasteful.

She looked down upon Blissdom, the cars moving like little ants. She had inherited a Skyscraper, something that she treasured. From here, she could see where her mission was to be located, the Hero Facility, Hero Facility Pleiades. She looked down on the watch that had climbed down her arm through the day, it read 11:30. She acknowledged the time and moved the watch up her arm, tightening so it wouldn’t move anymore.

She had planned to meet at noon with Blitzkrieg, but she wanted to arrive early to scout around. She stood up from her reclined position and pushed her seat in. She walked around her glass desk. While walking out the room, she clapped her hands together, the lights blinked off. Rounding the corner, she moved towards the elevator. The button illuminated as she pressed it.

Her face changed, not to a frown, but another face.
