Chapter 25:

Amy Elle

Bitter-Sweet

"Isaiah, you see that house over there? That's where John is!," Mr. Sivan said to Mr. Verlice as they drove to John Mason's house.

Mr. Verlice nodded.

"Just so you know. That guy has a body hidden in his house. It's Paul's body. Amy's in there, too. The real Amy. Not her sister that's using her name," Mr. Sivan said.

"Okay. Got it," Mr. Verlice said.

They knocked on the door. It was opened but there was a door chain.

"Do I know you?," the man asked.

"You don't know me. But, you do know him," Mr. Sivan said.

Mr. Verlice showed up behind Mr. Sivan.

"Isaiah?! What are you doing here, man? Come in!," the man said.

He quickly undid the door chain and let the two men inside.

The inside was dark. No light bulbs were on. The curtains were covering the windows so that no light could get outside.

"Who is it, babe?," a woman asked as she stepped into the hallway.

She had blonde hair which were tied in a messy bun. She had sleepy blue eyes. She was wearing a grey sweatshirt and grey sweatpants.

"This is Isaiah. I told you about him," the man said.

"Oh, I remember. Please sit down," she said as she beckoned the two guests to sit on the couch.

She brought four coffee mugs for them. She sat down with the three of them, giving one mug to her boyfriend and the other two to their guests.

"I'm Amy Elle. This is John Mason, my boyfriend," she said.

"Hello, miss Elle. I'm Isaiah Verlice. This is Ethan Sivan," Mr. Verlice said, taking a sip of his coffee.

"I don't mean to say anything about your personal life. But, why is the house so dark? There isn't any light on," Mr. Sivan asked.

"Are you from district six, Mr. Sivan? If you are, then you'll know why," Amy said.

"I know. At my place, the windows are always covered. But, the lights are always on. Why are you living in the dark?," he said.

"You do know that we have a body hidden here, right?," said John Mason, a handsome man with dark skin, dark brown hair and puffy dark brown eyes.

"I know. I read in the paper," Mr. Sivan said.

"Then, why are you asking such obvious questions?," he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I'm sorry. I was just a bit suspicious. But it's all clear now. You're good people," he said.

John rolled his eyes.

"Why are you here, Isaiah? I told you to not follow me," John said.

"I had to. Miss Elle's sister is the cause behind it," Mr. Verlice said.

Amy sighed.

"I'm sorry about her. She's always been so hard to understand," she said.

"Why are you apologizing for your stupid sister?!," John said.

"I have to, John! This is all my fault!," she said.

"It's not! It's all your Dad's fault! You don't have to apologize for anything!," he said.

"But, it's just so painful when I hear about the things she does. I'm so sorry for having such an absurd family!," she said, as she burst into tears.

The men were startled. John quickly wrapped an arm around her shoulder as he comforted her.

"Oh God, babe. Don't cry," he said, rubbing her back.

She took a minute to calm down.

"I'm sorry," she said, as she wiped her tears.

"You don't have to be, miss Elle. I know it's tough. My son's involved in this since the start, too. I can barely imagine the things he had to do," Mr. Verlice said.

"I'm sorry. I know Tina and the others are in so much trouble because of Alethea," she said.

"Can you tell us everything if you're comfortable?," Mr. Sivan asked. She nodded.

"When I started dating John, I knew something wasn't right. I was always worried about him because he was always so anxious. Ever since his brother Paul died, he absolutely lost all hope of life and he started drinking. I didn't knew what to do. My parents knew about this, too because John used to visit me a lot.

When his brother died in district six, he said he wanted to get his body back to district four, where he grew up. I didn't wanted him to go alone because I was so worried about him. I didn't know that John had joined Black Monday. John's always been so fine with money. He always had enough. But, you know how district six is. How twisted everything is here. He joined Black Monday because he was a bit short on money to come here with me.

Alethea's always been crazy. Ever since I started dating John, she had become really restless and violent. She thought John would hurt me or something like that because he used to drink a lot. Mom always knew she'd run away from home.

Alethea always wanted to be like me. She idolized me a lot. I was a total role model for her. I don't even know why she wanted to be like me. But, I'm pretty sure that it was only because she saw me being very kind to everyone. She was never kind. She was always so brutally honest with everyone. She never cared if her words hurt people. So much that she always used to tell Mom that it was all Dad's fault that she was like that. I literally didn't knew what to say to her.

Alethea, she wants to kill John. I don't why but she's so crazy. I just wanna meet her once and tell her that John isn't a bad person at all!," Amy said.

"Miss Elle, what's the thing with your Dad?," Mr. Sivan asked.

"Uh, actually, my Dad....my Dad...is the leader of Black Monday," she said, hesitantly.

"What the fuck?!," Mr. Sivan asked, getting up from his seat. He quickly sat down.

"Miss Elle, what's going on here? So, you're saying you're the eldest daughter of G. Blanc?!," Mr. Verlice asked.

"I am. The Elle name is from my Mom's side. My Dad is someone who I didn't even know about properly up until some time ago when my Mom told me what my father was like when rumors about his organization started spreading again.

Alethea has always been Dad's favorite. He came to see her when she was a month old and never showed up again. He said that there would be a time when she will find him herself. I don't hate my father. But, I didn't wanted Alethea to follow in his footsteps," she said.

"We know what your Dad's up to," Mr. Sivan said.

"I'm sorry about that. If the pandemic comes back, it will be the end of everything. I just want to see my sister one last time and tell her that she was never in the wrong. It was all Dad's fault. I want to meet her friends, too. I just want to apologize for all the wrong things she did," she said.

"You can meet some of them because the others are in district three," Mr. Verlice said.

"That will be fine. I'll love to see them," she said.

"I'll tell them," Mr. Verlice said.

"What is that car outside?," Mr. Sivan asked, when Mr. Verlice had called Ryan and told him everything.

He was just looking outside for a bit and he was suspicious of a vehicle.

"They're here!," John said.

"Who?," Mr. Verlice asked.

"Black Monday!," Amy said.
