Chapter 4:

I'm Free On Saturday... Let's go out?

Bodyguard Girlfriend

Yugo is undecided about asking Yara out. Her heart was racing as he prepared to ask her out, as he didn't know where to take her. Smiling, she tells him to program everything, and he responds.

“B-But I don’t even know where I have to take you.”

“You don’t even try, do you?”

Upon mentioning her indecision, Yara immediately responds with disappointment, but deep down, she expected that kind of reaction too. She then leaves and tells him to plan better without rushing, still with a disappointed Yara expression. Yugo feels guilty for not knowing how to act in this situation.

On the way out of school, Yugo approaches Yara, but she refuses to accompany him without saying anything. He doesn't notice her disappointment and heads home with Takashi, determined to find the perfect date spot.

Yugo is in his room, spending hours searching the internet, while his friend is playing a video game beside him. Later, he decides to ask Takashi for help.

“Taki… I'm undecided right now.”

“Hmm. Yes, what happened?”

“I have to ask Yara to go out.”

“What? Are you already liking her?”

“No, she said she wants to go out with me, but I have to choose the place.”

“That’s cool, she likes you.”

“It's not like that, she just wants to know me better. I also think it's better like this than inside the school… Hey, stop eating snacks while playing my video game. Will get my joystick dirty.”

“Alright, alright. How boring.”

Takashi pauses the game and approaches his friend, suggesting that he call her, so they can talk better, but Yugo refuses, claiming that he hates talking on the phone. Then he says to take her to the movies.

“Interesting. I can do this.”

“I don't know any other place. I only had this idea because I read it in a manga.”

“Are we really going to take an idea from a manga?”

“You have another?”

...

“Okay, I’ll follow your idea.”

The next day, Yugo went to school alone again and found Yara at the entrance. They look at each other, and she enters in silence.

Yugo has difficulty identifying her expression, the truth is that he can't understand people's facial expressions well, which is a big defect. In his quest to understand the feelings of others, he ends up becoming anxious, but he is determined and intends to improve his negative side. Yugo thinks it's because he doesn't look at people very often, he usually looks down.

During the break, while a girl is talking to Yara, Yugo approaches, and the two look at him. The student looks at him with indifference, Yara with a certain contempt. Yugo, apprehensive, asks if she wants to talk to him elsewhere. The girls looked at each other, and then the student cracked a smile and stepped in.

“Hey? Guess you didn't see me here.”

“Eh!? Yeah… I… I'm sorry, Aizawa-san.”

“Hahaha! It's cute that he always apologizes, isn't it?”

Kotone Aizawa, a girl with short hair and wears glasses who, despite her appearance, is not at all shy and, therefore, soon approached Yara, they were talking together. One outgoing person is too much for Yugo, two is even more tiring.

She was looking at Yara as she spoke, not noticing Yugo getting extremely shy when she said he was cute. Yara just turned her face to the side and walked out of the classroom. Kotone notices something and talks to Yugo.

“Yugo Sosuke, right?”

“Yes.”

“So you came to talk to Yara. I don't know what happened, but she wants to talk to you.”

“S-She told you that?!”

“No, but that was pretty easy to figure out.”

“Oh.”

“You're not one to talk a lot, are you?”

Hesitant, Yugo responds once again with few words. He's not used to talking to other people than Takashi.

“I think so.”

“Go talk to her right away.”

“Okay!”

Kotone watches Yugo running and feels curious to know what is going on between them. She walks towards Takashi, who was eating while reading manga, and smiles friendly.

“Hello, Takashi. Remember, you owe me something. Are you ready to pay off your debt?”

With a sad look, Takashi replied.

“Damn it.”

Yugo, out of breath, manages to catch up with Yara in the courtyard.

“Hey Yara! W-Wait a minute.”

“Yugo. What is it now?”

“I already know… I know a place… Where we can have a date.”

“Hmm. You didn't have to answer me the next day. But since you’re here, spill it.”

“We can go to the movies.”

She falls silent and raises an eyebrow, like she doesn't understand. Yara puts her hand over her mouth before asking.

“Did you think of it yourself?”

She thought it funny but accepted it, saying he probably couldn't think of anything better anyway. Yugo was embarrassed seeing her laugh at him, but with a little joy inside.

“Yugo, this is too cliché, but I can't expect much from you, can I?”

He sees Yara smiling, unlike how she was before. At least he noticed that she wasn't smiling like she seemed to do at any given time. Soon, he thinks he can get used to it and is embarrassed.

“I'll be free on Saturday. See you then, Yugo. I want to test something with you.”

“T-Test? Wait, is this a test?!”

“Of course it is, you thought I was already in love with you?”

“No. It's just… I thought you… At least you wanted to try.”

“You completely forgot about the plan.”

“There is no plan. Only you are planning something here.”

Yara asks Yugo to take her to the terrace, so they can talk better and explain what's on her mind. Once they get there, she opens up.

“Yugo, in the beginning, we only have to stay together a few times at school.”

“But why? And why did you agree to protect me in the first place?”

“Oh, that's easy. Because you're weak. Hahahaha!”

“Yeah, I had to ask that.”

Yugo looks like a fool looking to the side.

“I can't see what happened and be quiet. My dad says that I can't save everyone, but this is stronger than me. I feel like I have to act.”

Yara takes her fighting glove out of her pocket, puts it on, and points her finger at Yugo, making him uncomfortable.

“Did you notice any kid coming close to you to beat you up?”

“Oh, kid? Sometimes you talk weird.”

“Exactly, nobody.”

“I did not answer.”

“You didn't notice because you're kind of slow, but I'm always around. The kid who I smashed isn't coming to you anymore because I'm always watching. It's funny because he's scared, but I confess that sometimes I wish he would get close to you, so I could hit him.”

“SO YOU'RE ONLY WITH ME TO GET A REASON TO FIGHT WITH SOMEONE?!”

“I have to train. And stop yelling at me.”

“Training?”

At first, Yugo found her attitude noble, but it soon fell apart, and now, he can't stop thinking about how crazy this girl is.

“I just thought you were weird because you came to school in a male uniform, but now I think you're so much more than that.”

“Blah, blah, blah, I'm crazy and all. I know! Just don't tell anyone about it, okay?"

She smiles and winks at Yugo.

Despite finding her eccentric, he was also struck by how cute she was smiling, making him feel a bit shy.

“D-Do you still want to… go to the movies?”

“Of course!”

Yara wonders as they walk down the stairs to go back to the classroom.

“Are there more students like him at school?”

“Yes, two have already left, but there are others here.”

“Hmm. So the rumor spread among them.”

“Do you think they know about you?”

“It's possible. No one has come to disturb you until now.”

“We haven't completed a week of school yet. Because they were from another class, I rarely saw them, but it was always terrible.”

“I guess.”

Arriving in the corridor of their class, Yara and Yugo observe the Student Council President standing waiting for someone.

“Oh, Kyoka. How long?”

“Yara, I was waiting for you.”

A silence hovers in that place, becoming totally uncomfortable until… Yara runs at full speed without caring where, it just has to be far away from Kyoka.

“YARA! YOU WILL NOT GET AWAY FROM ME!”

Takashi comes close to Yugo, asking him to explain what just happened.

“Starting tomorrow, Yara will come to school in the female uniform.”
