They remember the time they had a summer camp.

It was almost the last half of the year, when the summer camp was announced by the teachers. Everyone was happy. I mean, who won't? The Hiroshi and Yuki couple were excited too. The summer camp is going to be on a mountainside. They have to work in groups and make their own food, build their tent, and other things that people normally do in a summer camp.

"Summer camp, huh?", Hiroshi said.

"It's gonna be fun. But I wonder if there will be a bath. Oh, don't tell me, you are fantasizing about it?"

"What if I say I do?"

"Huh?"

Hiroshi got close to her face and asked,

"What will you do then? Hate me?"

"N-no."

She was flustered by the questions that Hiroshi was asking.

"Can't I? Ain't I your boyfriend?"

"D-did I ever say no?"

"Well, I don't have to fantasize. I did see you naked a couple of times. Which enhanced my thinking capability."

"You are teasing me, aren't you?", she pouted.

"Stop pouting.", Hiroshi grabbed her cheeks.

"Hiroshi, that hurts."

After school, they went home as usual. The summer camp is still two days away, but planning on what to take is important. They started shopping for necessities too. Well, due to some unusual growth, they had to go to 'that' store. This time, it evolved to H cups. Truly, a monstrosity.

Up came the day of the summer camp. They went to the camp site. There, they were assigned to groups of six. Three males and three females randomly. Unfortunately, Yuki and Hiroshi got different groups. The students of Hiroshi's group wanted to give away their positions, but the teachers intervened.

"The lovebirds got separated, what will they do?"

"They might die if they are not close."

Now that's a problem. In Yuki's group, there were Yuuji, Ren and Ryoichi among the boys, and Eiko and another girl. He threatened to kill the three of the boys if they decide to try to take Yuki away from him. But in his group, there were some other classmates that he didn't know. Those classmates looked like delinquents. Well, he can handle them if they go out of control. He is the Quixotic Predator after all.

The first job of the day, they have to gather up wood and start a fire to cook. Well, he was feeling out of the group. He didn't know what to do. Those guys were handling all that on their own. They just told him to leave everything to them and just spend his time however he liked. He wanted to help, but they rejected. He was feeling guilty inside. He saw Yuki happily working with the people she knew. Well, he was happy that she was enjoying the trip. In that moment, their eyes met. He waved a bit at her, to which she didn't respond. She had wood in her hands which was used for cooking. She kept it somewhere inside and came to Hiroshi.

"Is something wrong, are you feeling sick?"

"I don't think so."

"Lemme see."

She checked his temperature and compared it to hers. It seems normal. But then, he kinda dozed off. He was feeling sleepy. Maybe he didn't have enough sleep last night? She didn't realize that.

She knew what to do. She sat beside Hiroshi, and laid him on her lap. Hiroshi was confused. Why is she putting his head on top of her lap? But he couldn't think anymore. He passed out.

Yuki was patting his head when he was sleeping, when one of the guys from Hiroshi's group came.

"Did he finally fall asleep?"

"Oh, you are from Hiroshi's group, right? Sorry. You had to do all the work."

"No problem. I actually saw him dozing off a little on the bus. I was concerned that he might be tired and told him that we would handle it."

"Thank you. He might not have had enough sleep for the past few days."

"Insomnia?"

"I hope not."

Even though they looked like delinquents, they actually are really nice people.

After an hour, Hiroshi woke up. It was a nice nap. When he woke up, the food was already complete. He couldn't contribute anything to it, but they were still willing to share the food. His guilt inside is killing him from the inside.

"You finally woke up?", asked Yuki.

"Yeah. It was a nice nap."

"Well then, I need to go and work now. See you later."

"Okay."

They came in and sat on the bench beside Hiroshi. Then they gave him a plate. It was rice with curry. But he refused to eat it.

"I can't accept it. I didn't contribute anything to it, but you guys are being nice and letting me have a plate. You guys are probably annoyed, right?"

"That's not it. We are the one who told you not to worry."

"Still..."

"Just eat."

With a guilty heart, he finished the plate. It was delicious, but not as much as Yuki's cooking. But he was grateful. He was still feeling that guilt, but then he wondered,

"Are they trying to guilt trap me?"

He was suspicious of them, but they were just trying to help him.

They were staying there for two days, and in the second day, there was a test of courage. That was the main attraction of the camp for the students.

Soon enough, it became nighttime. It was 2 am at night. Everybody was asleep. But for some reason, Hiroshi couldn't. He was frustrated at himself for not being able to sleep. It was happening for quite a few days now. And sometimes, he feels like going crazy. The girls and boys sleep separately, but its still crowded for three people to sleep in one tent. He went outside, hoping that it will ease his mind and make him sleepy. As he went out, one of the guys went up and said,

"Can't sleep?"

He was kinda shocked.

"Sorry, did I wake you up?"

"Nah. I couldn't fall asleep too. Mind if I join with you going outside?"

"If you want."

They both went outside. Well, that delinquent guy was planning on doing something. He intentionally didn't fall asleep.

"Hey Hiroshi, I have something to show you. Can you come with me?"

"Umm, sure?"

Hiroshi was following him through the jungles. He didn't know where he was going. He was concerned. I mean, following a delinquent at the middle of the night is kind of concerning. As he was thinking, they went to the place he was talking about. It was an open space in the middle of the jungle, where they could see the stars of the sky. It was truly a wonderful sight to behold. The delinquent guy went in the middle and laid down. Then he said,

"Come and lay down here. You can see the stars more clearly like this."

He went and laid down beside him. He didn't find any bloodlust from the delinquent guy.

"So how's life going?", asked the guy.

"Smoothly, I guess? But its a pain that I cannot sleep. I hate it."

"Hmm. You see the stars?"

"Yeah. Very clearly."

"I knew a friend. He knew all the names of the stars. He could say all of them without any hesitation. Well, let me try, I guess that's mars? He said that we can see stars too. But I don't understand any of it."

"..."

"The sky is a wonder, huh? Isn't it amazing how beautiful it is?"

"Yeah."

"Hey. I don't want to pry into your life, but is something bothering you? Like, something happened in the past, and for that reason, you can't sleep?"

"Well... actually... umm..."

"You don't need to tell me exactly what happened. I know you would feel uncomfortable. Just listen to the little help I can give you for this."

"You can help me?"

"Well, I can give you a remedy. Previously, I had difficulties with my sleep too. But my friend told me this trick to solve it, and had me make a promise that if anyone is suffering from sleeplessness than I would help them too by saying this trick."

"I see."

"Well, he told that before you go to sleep, sit up and think all the good things you did that day, and not to remember about the bad things that happened. And before going to bed, you say, 'I am satisfied with what I did today' and go to sleep. I tried it and it helped for me too."

"Is that so, then let me try."

Ten minutes pass by. There is no remarks from Hiroshi.

"Hey Hiroshi? You there?"

He has fallen sound asleep. After that, tears started falling from the delinquent guys eye. Wiping away his tears, he said,

"Your advice truly works, Tamiko."

With that, the first day of the summer camp ended.
