Chapter 60:

From the Depths of a Fearful and Worried Heart

From the Depths of an Emotionless Heart

Mika had arrived at the entrance of the hospital. There were many ambulances.

He quickly made his way through the crowd and rushed inside.

Saya, where are you, Saya?

He turned around, looking for any sign of her whereabouts. His entire body was shaking from a surge of energy, even though he was soaked to the bone.

He spotted the emergency room and ran toward it. Just as he was about to enter the door, a stretcher with two medics and a doctor was being carried out. A body covered in a black shroud lay on the stretcher.

Mika stared at the stretcher and the lifeless body. It could have been one of the seriously injured.

Just then he thought about asking the doctor. He was afraid, even scared.

Then the doctor spoke, breaking the silence.

"Notify Saya's family."

With that, the doctor entered the emergency room again.Mika froze. The world had stopped for a moment.

He felt an immense pain inside of him. He didn't know what to think, what to do.

He stood there and watched the stretcher disappear. His hands and feet were numb. He realized that his body was exhausted and out of breath from riding too fast. The shock was so overwhelming that he couldn't breathe.

Suddenly, he lost his balance and crashed into the wall. He didn't even feel the impact. His heart ached and all his muscles relaxed. He slid down the wall and fell to the floor. He struggled to breathe, but each breath was accompanied by a sound of pain.

Tears streamed from his eyes, but it was a sound of pain rather than crying. People began to look at him strangely. He was just crying, devastated by the thought of losing her, knowing he might never see her again.

And he had just learned that his emotions had returned.

His whole body throbbed with pain. He stared at the ground and continued to cry.

"I'm sorry, Saya, I'm so sorry. I'm sorry for everything. What will I do without you?" The world became meaningless. He was about to lose consciousness.

Just then, an unexpected voice came from next to him.,

"Mika?"

He didn't care that his name was called. But the voice sounded familiar, very familiar... He lifted his head, his eyes blurred from crying and saliva dripping from his chin. A blond figure leaned over him, looking at him. He blinked. The image began to come into focus. And when he finally saw clearly, all his emotions suddenly vanished.

"Saya?"

Saya was standing in front of him, looking at him in surprise. Her hair was damp, her clothes clung to her body.

"A-Are you crying?"

"SAYA!" Mika jumped up and hugged Saya tightly. He hugged her so suddenly that even she was surprised.

"Mika, what's happening-"

"SAYA!" Mika had started to sob uncontrollably. There was an immense feeling of relief, but he was still crying. He buried his face in Saya's long blond hair. He could smell the same shampoo scent he had noticed when they first met.

They stayed like that for a while, hugging each other. Saya hugged Mika back.

In the silence, Mika continued to cry. After Mika had calmed down a bit, he started to speak again.

"I-I thought you were d-dead," he managed to say between hiccups.

They were still holding hands. Their eyes were locked with each other's.Saya gave him a gentle smile.

"No, I'm here and I'm fine," she said.

"Rin told me, she t-told me you fell down," Mika continued, his voice still choked with sobs.

"Yeah, that wasn't the best experience to be honest. I accidentally fell into the plastic ball pit. I might have scared the kids a bit. You know, all of a sudden a bunch of plastic balls started flying up. But it might have been fun in a way"

Mika started to laugh at Saya's description. Laughter broke out from him. Saya looked at him with a mixture of surprise and amusement.

"Hey, Mika, what's gotten into you? Why are you laughing? Tell me."

"Um, I saw the news about the accident, then I called Rin, and I don't even know how or when I got here. And then I saw a body covered with a shroud, and I thought it was you..." he said, his laughter fading.

"That's not what I meant, idiot. What happened to you? You're having normal reactions."

"Normal reactions?"

"Yes! You were crying," Saya said, grabbing Mika's cheeks and lifting his head. They still held each other's gaze.

"W-Well..." he didn't understand what was happening, but he didn't care anymore. He didn't want to say

"I don't know."

"I talked to Doctor Kota. My emotions are coming back."

"WHAT?" Saya exclaimed, and then a smile appeared on her face. Her eyes filled with tears.

"Sa-Saya?" Mika said, forgetting her tears when he saw her smile.Saya's legs seemed to give way, but Mika caught her.

"Are you okay?" Mika asked worriedly.

"Y-yeah. I just twisted my ankle slightly when I fell. As you can see, it's bandaged."

"R-Right..." Mika stuttered. He couldn't believe himself or Saya.

"Are your feelings really coming back? Is that for sure?"

"Well, I'm not quite sure. I talked to Doctor Kota, but the conversation was cut short when I rushed here as soon as I heard the news."

"You can't call him?"

"I can't because I left my phone at home."

"And you didn't take it with you?"

"Yes."

Saya took a deep breath.

"So what happens now?" she asked, excitement and curiosity in her voice.

"I-I don't know. I've realized some things. I think."

"It shows on your face."

"What happened?"

"You can see it in your expression. Touch your face and feel it."

Mika touched his face. His face was wet with tears and saliva.

"What?" he said in surprise, he could not believe it.

Meanwhile, Saya, although she seemed normal, was breathing fast and trembling all over.

"Let's talk about this later. First, let's find Rin."

"O-Okay."
