Chapter 3:

Christmas massacre

Grinning Nightmare: Clown's Haunt

Finally, December 25th arrived, and today was Christmas. People all around the world were celebrating this festival with joy and happiness. However, for those living in Tokyo, it would turn out to be the most terrifying day of their lives. On Christmas Day, the phones at the Tokyo police stations began ringing incessantly, shocking all the police officers. The callers reported that their children were missing. Upon hearing this, all the police officers mobilized, and that day, Tokyo was swarmed with police presence.

Eventually, they found the missing children, but it was too late. The heads of 25 kids, including Tooka, had been gruesomely severed from their bodies. What made it even more chilling was that each victim's head had clown-like makeup on their faces, a truly eerie and disturbing sight. The news of these gruesome discoveries sent shockwaves throughout Tokyo, and the parents who lost their children were devastated.

On the other side of the city, Kasumi was found in a weakened state at a church, her face also bearing the same clown-like makeup. Her mother assumed it was due to the trauma of hearing about Tooka's death and decided to take her to a psychiatrist the next day.

Rei, meanwhile, was watching the news when suddenly the names and photos of the 25 deceased children appeared on the screen. Seeing Tooka's photo among the victims shocked Rei to her core. Her parents were going out for a party and advised her not to be sad, locked the door, and not to let any strangers in. However, Rei couldn't stop crying. Suddenly, all the lights in the room started to shatter. When she looked at the television, a clown's photo appeared, and a voice said, 'Twinkle Twinkle, YOU ARE DEAD.' Terrified, she turned around and saw a creepy smiling clown standing behind her, holding a knife. The clown swiftly chopped off her head and made her face resemble that of a clown.

After some time, her parents returned home and discovered their daughter's decapitated head. Her mother cried uncontrollably and collapsed on the floor. Her father tried to console her and called the police. When the police arrived, they sealed off the house and advised her parents to move to a rental home.

The Japanese government appointed a new team of police to investigate the case and made Kogoro Mouri the head of the team. At the same time, Kasumi and her mother were preparing to go to the psychiatrist. They both got into the car, and Kasumi noticed the clown doll that she had forgotten about that night. Her mother told her to fasten her seatbelt, but instead of complying, Kasumi refused and seemed preoccupied with the doll. Her mother grew upset once again and began driving towards the psychiatrist's office...
