Chapter 8:

Saishuu-tekina Mirai

After the walk to the town, Yasuho was tired and irritable. As she sat down at a nearby bench in the town, she noticed a giant group of people all walking around a small fountain. She nearly let her curiosity get the better of her before she saw a man sit down next to her.

“I’ve never seen ya around here? What’s your name pretty lady?” The man said, raising his dusty brown cowboy hat off of his forehead.

Yasuho wanted to make his face black and blue.

“I’m Yasuho, I come from the town over.” She said, with a hint of annoyance.

“First time here ‘eh? Coulda took the bus here, maybe you wouldn’t be so tired!” The man laughed at his own joke. “Oh right! Name’s Kojiro Gowa, but you can call me Koji!”

“Oh, there was a bus here?” Yasuho replied, barely keeping her rage out of sight.

“Yeah, ya didn’t know? Runs here just about every 2 hours.” Koji pointed towards the bus stop, which was just coming with passengers.

“Oh, that’s lovely.” She grumbled “By the way, do you know who they are?” She pointed at the giant group by the fountain.

“Oh them? They came to town a few days ago, call themselves ‘Final Future’. Stupid name, huh?”

“Yeah, kinda… Have they been causing trouble around here?”

“Not really, they just kinda stand around talking amongst themselves.”

“Do you know who’s their leader?”

“Sure I could show ya.”

The two got up and began walking to the giant group. When they reached the edge of the group, people began moving out of their way, giving confused stares at the pair. Before long, they came face to face with a guy sitting on the fountain.

“Here he is.” Koji said

Yasuho looked the man on the fountain, he had dark black hair, an eyepatch, a windbreaker and a katana in his hand.

“You need something, girl?” He said, with a deep and unsettling voice.

“I’m Yasuho with the Adventurer’s guild, we were wondering if you guys are disturbing the peace here?”

“Can’t say we are miss, you can head back to your little guild, ‘cause we’ll be leaving soon.”

“To where?”

“None of your business lady, now go.”

“And if I don’t want to?”

“Then I’ll have to make you leave.” The man said, standing up and showing the immense height difference between them.

“Yikes, not a good look for the guild, lady.” Koji said, wincing

“Shut it you. Besides, I don’t take threats from these people.”

“Alright, your choice hun.”

The ground began to shake beneath them, before a giant, translucent dragon came bursting out of the ground. Surprisingly, the dragon made no hole in the ground.

“Ryujin, blast that brat away!”

Yasuho began to bring her sword out. But by the time she had it out of its scabbard, the dragon was ready to blast her out of this world. Yasuho braced for impact and…

Nothing, nothing happened.
