Chapter 9:

Saishuu-tekina Mirai

Yasuho looked at her surroundings, she was in a house looking out of the window. She tried to say something, only to realize Koji had his hand on her mouth.

“Boy, real people pleaser ain’tcha?” He said with a cocky grin on his face

Yasuho pulled his hand off of her mouth. “What the hell just happened?”

“What do you think happened? You just tried to fight the leader of that group and nearly got your ass kicked! You’re welcome for saving you by the way.”

“Thanks, I guess. But I could’ve held my own against him!”

“Against that dragon? I can’t tell if you’re too brave or too stupid to understand.”

“Too stupid!? I-“ Koji placed his hand over her mouth once more and made a sign to quiet down. As he did, they heard the door open and the sound of several footsteps. They heard scattered bits of conversation, most implying they were looking for someone. Yasuho heard a knock at the door they were in before it busted down and-

Nothing, yet again. They were in a different house, a short distance away from the one they were just in.

“What the hell?” Yasuho whispered.

“Oh right, I never told you my power didn’t I?” Koji whispered back “It’s the power to freeze time, I’m a special type.”

“Well that explains a lot. Now, how do we plan to get out?”

“We could always do this until we get out of town, hopefully the bus is still runnin’.”

“Yeah, that could work.”

“Alright, let’s go a few homes over, then we can just run to the stop. Oh, before I forget, what’s your full name, I need it for my ability.”

“What do you need my full name for?”

“My power freezes time for everyone except the people that I write down in this book.” Koji took out a nicely kept book, it looked almost brand new and a hell of a lot better than any of Koji’s clothes.

“I’m Yasuho Mizah, M-I-Z-A-H.”

“Alright cool, let’s go.” Koji snapped his fingers and the world went grey.

“We’ve got 1 minute now, let’s move!” Koji jumped out of the window and began to sprint in the direction of the bus stop, while Yasuho followed close behind. The two stopped to catch their breath at the bus stop as the world’s colour returned.

“Ok, they haven’t checked down here yet so don’t relax yet.” Koji said between his panting.

“Will do.”

The two waited for ten minutes, watching and listening to everything outside of the opaque bus stop box. Just then, the bus appeared and the two got on, leaving the town in the dust.
