Chapter 26:

Under The Blanket

The Marionettist

The day started as usual. Marcel again dressed Patricia in a pink dress with a floral print. Today he had a nice surprise for her, he understood that she wanted to go out on the fresh air again, even if she had to wait until the evening before she could "receive" her gift.

He bound her with handcuffs to his right hand, her left hand, and took her to the outside world above the town. Marcel owned a very luxurious dark-colored car. Patricia hummed to herself that today was the day she would run away. Well, there was just one problem. She was attached to him.

He pulled out a picnic basket and some sheepskin on the grass. He wrapped them both in a giant furry blanket, ready to cuddle his doll. After a few minutes, he opened the champagne, poured it into flute glasses, and brought out strawberries with whipped cream for dessert.

They stayed high up on the hill with an amazing view and a romantic atmosphere. Nevertheless, Patricia's thoughts were completely elsewhere, far away... by Marek. Somewhere down there, he's sitting alone, worrying about her. Marcel by stuffing a strawberry into her mouth, snapped Patricia out of her dreaming.

Marcel collapsed on the ground and forced Patricia to lie on his chest. "Let's say we would meet normally... without you knowing who I am. Would you consider going on a date with me with your own free will?” She looked at him in disbelief. What on earth is he asking her? Like, I would have no clue you are a complete psycho? she thought to herself.

She preferred not to even say it out loud. “If you mean, that I wouldn't have any idea about all these horrible things you've done? Or would this be a parallel universe where you never killed anyone? I always wondered why you never hypnotized me."

Marcel stared at the stars in the sky, but a small sly smile appeared on his lips and stroked her hair. “It's true that I hypnotized everyone around me, including your suspects and the cops and that detective... I just couldn't do it to you.

I don't want love that is fake and forced. It's not the same feeling. I want to earn your love. My mother's false love, which I achieved through hypnosis, did not fulfill me as I expected. After my mother left me, I never met anyone... any woman, who would truly accept me as I am."

She followed his gaze to the sky. She felt his pain, she began to feel sorry for him. “You know what, I don't know if what I have in mind right now is just Stockholm syndrome, but really, you wouldn't end up evil, if you didn't have a reason to be that way. You're just a very wounded lonely soul.

I certainly do not justify all the deeds you did, plus you tried to rape me a few times, on the one hand, you only acted like that because of your past. If you had someone to keep you on the right path, you would definitely never kill anyone. Couldn't you just give up and end this whole madness?''

He squeezed her little hand. "Nope! I am very happy now. I already have you! We have a nice place to live, or if you want, we can move to a real house far from here. After all, I inherited billions, so you don't have to worry about our future together." Patricia began to suffer from migraines. She didn't want to make him angry, so she decided it would be better if she kept quiet.

It got even colder, but it was nice and warm with him under the blanket. Anyway, it was time to go "home". Patricia had no other chance to escape, but at least she knew the real catalyst that had driven Marcel to such inexcusable, abominable behavior.
