Chapter 15:

betrayal

Coffee, sugar and love

"You must surrender the money, and your sin will be forgiven," Luca said.

His tone was firm and decisive. There was no room for negotiation. He expected me to comply with his demand and give up the money in order to receive mercy.

"I don't know what you're talking about, Luca! " I said with a hint of frustration in my voice.

Luca sighed and replied, "You stole the money and need to surrender it. If you would've been honest about pretending to be Errol, I would've understood. But I can't let you get away with stealing, not after everything that's happened."

I felt a sense of anger welling up inside me. I hadn't stolen anything! I felt like Luca was accusing me of something I hadn't done. But I didn't have the heart to argue with him.

The door suddenly opened and we both looked up to see who it was. "Radia?" I thought.

The girl with short hair and glasses stood in front of me, staring at me with a cold expression. I was taken aback by her unfriendly demeanor.

"Radia, please help me," I said, reaching out to her. However, she just flicked my hand away. I was shocked by her inhospitable attitude and felt a sense of helplessness in that moment.

Luca suddenly called out, "Daida?

Daida?"

"I can't believe that you could do something so horrible," the girl in front of me, who I now knew as Daida, said with a serious expression.

"You hired bullies to beat me up?"

"You hired bullies to beat up Daila to win brownie points on me?" he asked, his tone filled with disbelief.

I was taken aback by his accusation. "What? How did you know? No, listen, wait, I never meant..." I tried to explain, but Luca cut me off.

"You planned everything, didn't you? You wanted to impress me by showing how much 'effort' you were willing to go through to be with me," he said. I felt a sense of shame and guilt wash over me as my actions were laid out in front of me.

"All this time, you've been acting like my friend, when I lost everything because of you?" Daida said. The anger in her voice was palpable. I couldn't believe what she was accusing me of. "You actually sent people to hurt me?" I felt like my world was crumbling around me.

I turned to Lesley, seeking support. But she only stared at me with a solemn expression. I could feel the shame and guilt weighing on me. "No, Radia. You have to believe me. That was never the plan," I said desperately.

"You're fired, Kennedy."

The words hit me like a slap in the face. I felt a sense of disbelief wash over me as I struggled to cope with the reality of the situation.

"Leave," Daida said, her tone full of anger.

Luca turned to her and said, "No, Daida. I'm calling the police."

I felt a wave of relief wash over me as I realized that Luca was on my side. I had nothing left to lose, and I had to face the consequences of my actions.

"I don't know what's going on," I whispered to myself. I couldn't help but feel tears rolling down my cheeks as I felt the weight of my actions falling heavily on me.

Lesley suddenly walked over and gently hugged me, trying to comfort me. "Shh, it's okay," she said.

"I never stole the money, Lesley. Please believe me," I pleaded through my tears. I wanted so much for her to understand my side of the story. But she just held me tight and tried to calm me down.

Lesley held me tightly and tried to comfort me. "Shhh, it's okay," she said, her tone gentle and warm. I was touched by her kindness and understood how much she cared about me. In that moment, all I needed was someone to tell me that everything would be alright.

I could hear the sound of police sirens approaching. Luca must have called the police to report the stolen money from the cash register. I felt a sense of dread wash over me as I realized that my life was about to change forever.

Luca turned to me with a stern expression on his face. "I called the police because I suspected you were involved in the theft from the cash register," he explained. "I had to report it, Kennedy."

I was at a loss for words. I couldn't believe that my world was about to be turned upside down. It was finally time to pay for my mistakes.

The door suddenly flew open and a girl with long hair, who looked exactly like the short-haired girl, held out a wooden sword. "Radia?" I called out, still in disbelief. "You got it alright," she said with a confident smile on her face as she pulled me away from Lesley and the others. Everyone was shocked by the sudden turn of events.

. What was happening? Why was this girl taking me away? And why did she look so much like Daida?

"Where are you going, Errol, Radia?" Daida asked, blocking the exit with a determined expression on her face.

Radia pointed the bamboo sword at her, "Out of my way, Daida," she exclaimed. Daida glared at her, refusing to back down. "Why are you taking Errol's side? He sent bullies to hurt me."

As the police sirens grew closer and louder, I felt Radia dragging me away, determined to get to the exit. I felt a sense of excitement and trepidation wash over me. What was she going to do next?

"Where are you taking Errol, Radia?" Daida asked with a confused expression.

But Radia didn't waste any time. She pointed the bamboo sword back at Daida. "Out of my way, Daida," she said with determination in her voice.

Daida glared at Radia, her anger growing thicker as she saw me being dragged away. "Why are you taking his side? He sent bullies to hurt me," Daida said.

The siren grew closer and closer, and the moment of distraction allowed Radia to make her way to the exit, dragging me along.

"Let go of me, Radia," I insisted, feeling increasingly confused as we ran away from the cafe.

"I need to go back and explain myself to Luca and Daida," I added.

Radia ignored me, and I suddenly felt myself being pulled onto the back seat of a bicycle. "What are you doing?" I asked, feeling startled and confused. She was taking me away, and I didn't know where we were going.

I tried to get off the bicycle, but she kept holding me tight and speeding off. I felt completely helpless and uncertain of what to do.

We rode off, away from the cafe and onto a lone road surrounded by rows of trees. The leaves danced in the gentle breeze, and I could smell the salty sea air.

The peaceful atmosphere was suddenly shattered as Radia lost control of the bicycle and we crashed down a small slope. In a heartbeat, we were both lying face down on the ground.

We both lay there stunned and disoriented for a few moments, breathing heavily and covered in dirt and mud. I felt a sharp pain in my knees and elbows

"Are you okay?" i asked, and helped her up and brushed off the dirt from her clothes.

Radia was still in shock from the crash and couldn't stand up. I knelt on the ground and offered her to hop on my back.

"Here, let me help you," I said.

She climbed onto my back and I stood up with her on my back. She rested her arms on my shoulders and we both started walking forward.

“You don’t have to do that for me radia…I didn’t stole the money “I said in a calm voice as I started to make our way back to the road.

“right…because daida did”
