Into nothing

"Is it because of me? What happened between him and me is between me and him and I don't want you to treat your friend differently because of me."

"No, no. It's not like that. We are more like friends in school I would call it. We spend time together because we happen to be in the same class, and we don't talk much outside of school. Do you know what I am talking about? Did you have someone like this too?"

"Now that I think about it, I stopped talking to my classmates from my previous school after we had moved, so I guess it's similar. Some people disappear from your life when you aren't locked up in a room 7 hours five days every week."

"That's true. I wonder if I will be in touch with Alan when we won't be in the same school."

"Based on what you said, I don't think so."

 "Probably"

"What, would you like to?"

"I don't know, maybe? It's not a thing you can force."

"You don't really talk to other people than him. Like that, you won't have anyone if the kids in high school will be idiots."

 "Not even you?"

"How am I supposed to know? What if you see me as a school friend also?"

"This right here is the difference. I barely went out like this with Alan, and I have known him for years."

"I see. That's good to hear then."

"Why don't you talk to other classmates? They seem alright."

"I dunno. It just didn't happen. None of them ever came to me and tried to talk, and when we were forced to communicate, like in a group project we didn't click. Alan is enough. I don't need that many friends."

"Hmmm..."

       After that, she didn't say anything. We finished our food, not a word could be heard. 
She looked like there was something on her mind. I had my suspicions when we were heading here, but now is obvious.

"Is there something wrong?"

 "No, not really, but."

"But what?"

"It's just that I've been thinking... and I wanted to ask you."

She paused again.

"The past week or so we were together much more and for me personally it was a lot of fun and for a while I wanted you to ask if you would like to go a step further. If you are even interested. I have a feeling but..."

"You mean like?"

"Yes, I mean THAT."

She didn't let me finish I am quite sure we are on the same boat.

"To be honest, a couple of times I thought about it too, but I wasn't sure you would share the same idea, but if you want it too... I don't see a reason why not. If you don't expect some
drastic change right off the bat."

"No, no, nothing will change."

She looked like the biggest rock ever fell off her shoulders right now. I knew something was off.
