I turned the mechanical brain over in my hands. People had been replacing their failing body parts with technology for years but no one had managed to recreate the complexity of the brain. No one, except my brilliant wife. Her last words haunted me:

“Everyone wants to live forever but this technology will kill billions… So when I die, destroy it.”

I heard the shouts and shuffling of guards in the distance; powerful people were after me and time was running out. Yet, I was hesitant. Was I strong enough to destroy my wife’s memories that she had died protecting?
