Chapter 66:
En Passant Grandmaster
Maida let out a sigh as Okisato finished explaining things. "I understand. I will have to consult with her parents though."
"Are none of them with her right now?" Okisato asked.
"Only her mother is present."
"I see, it might overwhelm her. Well, talk with the doctors then, it's possible things were taken care of on that front too, so there may not be a need for further inquiry."
"I want a full briefing on what transpired. In fact, I'll fail you if you don't submit it as a report."
"I get it," Okisato sighed as the call ended.
"Well?" Yuusuke glared.
"Zenihara-san is fine. Looks like the DESPER healed her."
"It better have. Oh, and I still hate you."
Upon hearing the good news about Yuzuha, Rodeo burst into tears. Yuusuke decided to take him somewhere private to cry and headed off with him.
Mimoko and Utami then walked by. Even though she had been healed, Mimoko’s senses were still thrown off as she remembered the sensation of the pain. Not to mention her clothes were drenched in blood. However, she first had to say something to Okisato.
"Tanabe-kun... Thanks, though I heard you blundered an easy win,” Mimoko sighed.
"No, I just didn't want the piece of shit to get off so easily."
"I see. Well, apparently you did have some control over the situation or so Utami-chan claims, so I'll let you off for now."
Okisato then turned towards Utami. "Thanks for sticking up for me."
"I only informed Mimoko-sama of what happened, I do not think any highly of you, though I do realize you were trying to help me with that training. I'll never forgive you for the incident with Kazuya-ni though."
"Never asked you to, but- No, I'll just leave things there. Get some rest."
As Mimoko and Utami left, Okisato noticed Iori and Numakawa looking for something in the grass.
"Where is it? Where is it!? THERE!" Iori thought as she located Haruki's DESPER.
SLAM!
Iori stared at the pointed staff slammed in the ground in front of her before slowly gazing up at its wielder, Tsar Grigori.
Grigori then kneeled down and retrieved the DESPER, all while glaring angrily at Iori. "You showed your hand to me, girl. Now, your element of surprise has been lost," he thought as he got up and approached Haruki's beaten and unconscious body. "You failed, but I will not dispose of you here. In fact, I think I'll "reward" you with a consolation prize," he snickered under his breath.
"Did you find that device?" Numakawa called out to Iori.
"Nope, ole Rasputin snatched it up," Iori glared as she stood up.
"The Russian man? Then let's ask-"
"No, you two shouldn't mess with him. He's very dangerous, as well as the leader of Russia," Okisato stated.
"THE LEADER OF RUSSIA!?" the two both shouted.
"Uh... Shit, my phone's outta battery. Let me go charge it before he leaves!" Iori cried as she sped off.
"So then the technology is Russian?" Numakawa asked.
"No, but I guess they technically would be the largest user of it. Like I said, don't mess with him, or mention him to Maida-sensei," Okisato glared.
"You think I'd be so foolish!?"
"Yes."
"Ngh! I'll prove my superior intellect to you. Let's have a match!"
"Fine, though we'll do it elsewhere."
As soon as everyone had left, crowds of people began gathering and stared in horror and both the injured Haruki and what remained of his proxies.
...
At the hospital, Haruki moaned and groaned as he lay encased in a full body cast. He was in so much pain, even his thoughts were filled with his pained groans. While there was no chance of him ever fully healing on his own, he was likely to survive. However, his survival hinged not on his own body, but on external forces.
Haruki's eye twitched as he heard someone enter his room. His pain began to lessen as his mood improved at the sight of Svetlna angrily glaring down at him.
"You are pathetic," Svetlana glared as she slammed her sledgehammer into the ground.
"Mmph ngh, ngh," Haruki groaned as he gazed lustfully at Svetlana.
"You disgust me. To be honest I was partially overjoyed to do this, though seeing that you'll probably enjoy even this, disgusts me even more."
"Ngh?"
"No, you won't get sex. It disgusts me that I know what you're thinking. It pisses me off... МЕНЯ ЭТО БЕСИТ! О, ЧЕРТ ВОЗЬМИ, ТЫ КУСОК ДЕРЬМА [IT PISSES ME OFF! GO TO HELL YOU PIECE OF SHIT]!" Svetlana roared as she swung her sledgehammer down, however, her body suddenly went stiff. "Ngh, is this the damn by-law preventing me from killing him!?"
"Yes, but fear not, I shall do the deed," a raspy voice stated.
Haruki's eyes widened in terror as he saw Red Reaper appear and grab the sledge hammer with one hand, raising it into the air.
"Auf wiedersehen," Red Reaper glared as he slammed the hammer down on one of Haruki's plaster-encased legs, sending blood, gore and plaster everywhere as the leg was smashed to bits.
Haruki was completely overwhelmed by the pain and let out a blood curdling scream as Red Reaper continued to smash him to death with the sledgehammer. Within minutes, Haruki was dead and reduced to nothing but minuscule bits of flesh and gore strewn about the room.
"I will have to bleach my hammer," Svetlana snarled as she stared in disgust at Haruki's remains.
...
Back at the hotel, Grigori let loose a sadistic smile as a puff of smoke emitted from Haruki's DESPER. "It seems I have done you a small favor, oni-tiger. I assume you'll have already sent someone to kill Haruki, but you were too late, and anyone you send will become prey for Kaiser Richthofen, assuming of course you are unable to learn of Haruki's death in time. Though I'm curious why his DESPER didn't self-destruct right away. Perhaps there was a slight chance he could be cured, or perhaps he could simply just continue to play chess even in his current state. Well no matter, he was fated to die anyway. I'm sure Professor Skaberghast will be happy to hear of this theory," he thought.
