Chapter 12:
Hearts Beyond Horizons
Catching up to my dog was relieving, but something was off about where we ended up. I peeked over to see two people talking to each other. One was a student from some sort of school and the other one held a doll in their hand while wearing a strange princess dress with a heart atop of their head.
When Izusaki saw this, she immediately backed away in fear and tugged at my hand.
“Ryutane-kun, we need to leave now. That doll that I saw in my bedroom is in her hand. We shouldn’t be here,” she whispered to me.
I couldn’t agree more at a time like this. It was getting dark. Just as we were about to leave though, a group of four people surrounded us out of nowhere.
“A few kids and a dog. Oh, this is going to be fun,” said this adult girl who was standing in front of the others.
We struggled to get out of their grasp. Meanwhile, Lilac was extremely scared. I didn’t like how they treated my dog as they bullied her around.
They were really making me mad.
“Hey! Stop messing with Lilac! She didn’t do anything to you!”
The moment I said this, I got punched really hard in the stomach by one of the guys in that group and thrown onto the grass. It hurt worse than anything I ever felt.
“Some funny words you got there. Got anything to add to that little girl?” he said while tussling around with Izusaki.
Knowing that he knocked the wind out of me, I could barely even force myself to speak or move. Meanwhile, they started to laugh and kick her down right next to me.
“Imagi, look who came to rescue you!” mentioned another one of these guys.
I came to figure out that the student that we saw earlier was named Imagi. She was now being held against her will with a knife by that person wearing a princess dress.
“Excellent work Toma. Now for the main event,” said the fake princess.
