Chapter XVII : Tunnels

Screams…. Screams…. Screams…. Connor would be sliding through the tunnel that’s been made by the worms, losing his sense of direction and Scarlett along the way. “SCARLETT WHERE ARE YOU???” Connor screamed trying to find the right direction Scarlett Went. It all just seemed so dark. But that was the least of Connor’s Worries. His Claustrophobia would be kicking in, As time slowly fades his body would slowly get weak, and his vision would get all blurry. And Finally he would pass out mid air, whilst his body is still falling to tremendous depths.

Connor would wake up.

Location : California, Sacramento. [18/03/2052]

Connor would wake up in his bed, A shining bright morning full of Happiness, well the most Happiness you can get living in a Rented out shitty apartment . He would be 14 at this time. His bed would have crusty mold, like it had been used for decades. It also didn’t help that it was a bunk bed, Holded together by duct tape, One wrong jump and His brother below him is surely going to die. Speaking of his brother, Samuel, He would be the Total opposite of Connor, His bed was cleaned out and no mold, and of course his desk and bag would be neatly cleaned. Connor would get up from his bed, he would jump off the bed frame and get ready for his day. His dad would’ve already left at this time to go to work, It was just him and his Brother eating cereal, with milk almost past the expiration date. After the not so scrumptious breakfast, they head off to school. They rode the public bus, Unfortunately Buses and Cars do not fly in the distant future. Connor and Samuel would arrive at school on time. As the clock hit 7:30, the bell rang. But something unusual would happen, Now the school wasn’t all fancy, it was a public school after all, but The School TV in the cafeteria was having weird glitches, And the School Bell sounds odd. Maybe it was just a technical glitch the school was having that day, But that wasn’t it. Samuel would meet up with some friends before heading to they’re first class.

Samuel and Connor weren't really close during they’re childhood. They lived together, played games together, but that’s really it. When Samuel was busy studying for his Math finals, Connor was smoking weed with his friends in the back alley. There wasn’t really much to they’re relationship. And neither of them cared enough for each other. Samuel was the stereotypical nerd and loser, And Connor was the stereotypical tough man and Crackhead.

As they were heading to class, Samuel would be reading the newest chapter of his Manga and wearing headphones. He would be too distracted by it to notice the things going on outside. The rest of the school saw it though, from teachers, students, janitors. They all saw it, A Giant puff of cloud surrounding the city, whilst meteors started falling down from the heavens. Some say it was like seeing a nuclear explosion, A giant puff of smoke started to rise from all the dust, a Meteor would land directly in front of they’re school,The Teachers would make sure the kids are safe, The smoke would eventually get into the school lobby. As the glass windows would eventually get real blurry due to all the dust and smoke in the air.

“We need to go and Quick..” Connor said to Samuel whilst grabbing his arm.

Samuel would finally realize what was happening, His Face full of shockness would overwhelm him, Connor would pull Samuel Away from the lobby as they hid in the Janitor’s closet. They were the first one’s there. The room was really small, around a couple centimeters, fortunately it was able to fit them both, but one more person and this was going to be overcrowded. Connor with no remorse would grab the key and lock the door from the inside so no one could enter. They saw the commotion through the window, People running, Teachers screaming, But they didn’t know what they were screaming at. Then something appeared, An alien species now known as the Smeagle. A Long necked White alien with a split opened head, similar to a demogorgon. Samuel would watch the chaos unfold outside, the screams of teens getting dragged across the floor and eaten by this unholy creature. Some started to try to enter the Janitor room but they’re faces dwindled with fear as they got eaten by the Creature. It was a frightening experience that would leave a scar on the brothers. Connor would find an Air duct above them, He signaled to Samuel that there might be an Exit for them.

Samuel says “Are you nuts? You know how much dirt is in there?”

“Yea dirt doesn't matter if a 8 Foot White skinny Monster with its mouth being its head, is trying to eat us” Connor said.

“Good point,” Samuel replied.

They would open up the air duct and get a small ladder for them to climb. They grabbed a few accessories, And put them in a toolbox, they climbed into the Air duct, and suddenly everything got Blurry because of the dust. Samuels glasses would heil up from all the dirt, As they would be coughing they would try to navigate they’re way out of the school. As they started crawling they're vision would get more blurry to the point where they couldn't see anything in their path. Eventually though the Duo managed to hit a dead end, They realized that above them was a vent door leading to the Roof of the school. Connor started punching it, The smell and the dust was unbearable, Samuel managed to handle it but Connor was dying to get out. Connor would start punching the Vent door trying to break it open, Samuel would then drag the toolbox to Connor.

“There's a screwdriver in there, use it, to get us OUT” Samuel said.

Connor replied “why didn't you tell me earlier???”

Connor grabs the screwdriver and starts to unscrew the screws from the vent door, He'd kick it down. They finally As they got out of the vent, The duo would see a barrage of aliens on the ground, Varying in size. On the roof there would be a few crowbars laying on the ground and a few toolboxes. They saw below them the schoolbus, There was really only one way to escape here. A 30 feet jump

“We can escape if we jump off the roof and into the school bus,” Connor said.

“Usually I would say you're crazy, But this time I feel like that's the only way to escape here” Samuel replied.

They would get ready to jump off the roof to the Schoolbus, they would hold hands to make sure they're both safe when they make it down. They jumped at the same time and.

“Wake up! Wake up! Connor woke up!” Scarlett said, panicking. Connor woke up next to Scarlett, Apparently Connor fainted during the fall. Connor's eyes would adjust, He would be on Rocky ground. It was brighter he could barely see what was happening

“Where am I? Scarlett! You're safe.” Connor said.

“Yea… I'm glad you're alive, you fainted during the fall” Scarlett replied.

“Where am I?” Connor said.

His eyes would adjust, He would be on the edge of the top of a ravine. The bottom of the Ravine would be filled with bright Yellow liquid. And worms swimming in them, not just one or two but Dozens of them. He's not sure what's going on. He just saw worms jumping into the Liquid. He turned to Scarlett hoping for an answer.

“We're in the Hive,” Scarlett replied.
