Interview the author Part 4: The top 10 most hated characters [Special]

"Hey, Hey! Kisha Shinbun's here! We're back with Mario to trash talk some of the scummiest sleazebags that have graced this tournament yet! So without any delay, let's start out with...

Number 10: Mami Manabe

A member of the bully trio, I feel she made the list mainly due to her role in the bughouse game. If she had more screen time, she'd probably be higher on the list though.

Number 9: Jacque Horner

On paper, Jacque is easily evil enough to get him a top 5 spot on this list. He abuses his power, slanders people, and even leads mobs to execute foes. However, he falls just short due to his small presence in the story. I originally planned for him to have more screen time in order to generate more hate for him, but due to his small presence, he felt more like a grunt than a right-hand man. Still, his misdeeds get him the number 9 spot on the list.

Number 8: Clifford Glassblower

This guy would claim he's not an asshole when in fact he's just a selfish, egotistical asshole. What really earned him his spot on the list though was how he wasn't willing to stick by Sheila, instead caring more about himself and willing to antagonize her if a majority of the Misericordia party does so, though his holier than thou personality also played a role in landing him on the list. He's pretty tame though compared to the others which is why he's so low on the list.

Number 7: The principal (Nagi Enoki Sr.)

To no one's surprise, the principal makes the list. He's a greedy, uncaring, selfish scumbag that made Utami suffer for his own selfish ambitions. He also antagonizes the chess club frequently, but luckily gets put in his place multiple times. I hated him so much, that I decided to off-screen him as a sign of disrespect. As for why he's so low, there are simply other scumbags I hate more than him.

Number 6: Cypress Sycamore

A predictable pick, Cypress is easy to hate, but that's mainly because that's how he was written. If he had a larger presence in the story, he'd probably be a spot higher, but his misdeeds and attitude are still bad enough to get him the number 6 spot on this list.

Number 5: Shiho Segawa

The leader of the bullies that antagonizes Utami. Some might argue she's a bit too high on the list, considering her low amount of screen time, but I feel she'll definitely prove her place as the story progresses. Though if Cypress had a larger story presence than her, she would be a spot lower than him.

Number 4: Michiko Azami

I feel she would have been higher if I went with my original vision of her and made it clear she was evil from day 1, but I wanted her to be a twist villain so it is what it is. Nonetheless, she's still irredeemable trash. She back-stabbed her friend, Daria, manipulated Mimoko, and ended up messing up multiple lives in her envious scheme. If I had shown her internal dialogue and how she had no remorse for her actions, I feel she'd be a spot higher maybe.

Number 3: Manny Pewler

A predictable pick, Pewler is essentially the type of politician you hope never exists, but sadly does. He's manipulative, ambitious, and pure evil. I feel he'd easily be number 1 if I highlighted all his misdeeds, but even then, what saves him from being my most hated character is the fact that I like to hate him. His only redeeming quality is that he is, in my opinion, a well-written villain. Yes, he's done plenty of inhumane and illegal things, but since I never really highlighted all that in the story, it makes it a bit harder to hate him more than some of the others on the list. The worst he actually did on screen was shooting Carol. If I had decided to kill Carol off, he might have been number 2 on the list. Though I still hate him enough to give him the number 3 spot on this list.

Number 2: Imelda Berrinche

I hate her. She has no redeeming qualities and is a piece of shit. She abused Carol and beat her into submission during her college days which alone makes her worthy of a high place on this list. She also sold her sister out to Pewler which led to her sister becoming a mindless sheepblossom under her and Pewler's control. But to make matters worse, she had her sister attack some people because they were wearing anime shirts, and when one killed her sister in self defense in order to save his friend's life, Imelda lied to the court that they attacked first. I actually planned to make her even worse, but decided not to since I didn't want her on screen for much longer.

Number 1: Haruki Kamoshida

Yeah, you knew he was gonna be at the top. Especially since I made a point to refer to him as "the piece of shit" whenever I talked about him in my commentaries. This guy is absolute scum. He raped Yuzuha and wanted to rape pretty much everyone else. He also hunts down and enslaves people and makes them do horrific things, not to mention he rapes them as well. I hate him so much, that he's pretty much the only major character from Season 2 or earlier that doesn't have full-body artwork. His portrait on the Desperado collage is all I'm willing to give him, and that's only so readers have a vision of the face they want to punch in.
