Chapter 4:

Lost in the maze

A ghoulish Lovesung

Big Guy stared in horror as Argus raised Kale into the air with his scythe. Despite her predicament, Kale still kept her fixed smile even as she meekly began struggling. Yet within seconds, her entire body went limp. Argus then swung his scythe back, sending Kale's body flying into the cornfield, and landing with a loud rustling sound. He then turned his attention to Big Guy and began chase on foot. Big Guy ran for his life, narrowly dodging each swing of the scythe.

Meanwhile, back at the van, Mia and Maya watched in horror. While Cameron was the main cameraman, the group had come prepared with multiple body cameras, in order to capture any angle, allowing Mia and Maya to see what was happening even though the main camera was down. That didn't make things any less horrifying though as the two were generally concerned about Big Guy's safety.

Shana on the other hand didn't seem concerned in the slightest, seemingly finding amusement in the events unfolding.

"Uh, didn't your friend just die!?" Maya glared.

"Relax, Kale's quite durable you see. A mere stab like that won't so much as irritate her."

"Um, she looked like she was dying!"

"Preposterous. Kale has survived far worse, just fine."

Mia shivered in terror, her eyes relaying the message of, "I want to go home!"

Maya saw this and immediately proposed they cut the production once Big Guy returned, but there was just one problem; Cameron had the keys to the van.

"Why the hell would you not leave the keys here!? How else are we supposed to make a getaway if he's dead!?"

"As they say, no man left behind."

It was now becoming clear to Maya her manager might have been right; these ghost hunters were insane.

"So what do we do now then!?"

Shana merely shrugged and leaned back in her seat. "Watch and see. Perhaps maybe he'll outlast him by morning."

Back in the cornfields, Big Guy managed to lose Argus, and stopped to catch his breath. He looked around, and while Argus was nowhere in sight, he had another problem; he was lost.

While it was only an hour until sunrise, it was still pitch dark outside, which coupled with the massive maze-like cornfield only made things worse.

"Ugh, we should have done this during the day when it was sunny."
