I also make references to Pandora Hearts,Jun Mochizuki's first popular manga and Trinity Blood,I only saw the anime but it makes me sad that the light novel remains incomplete because the original creator died.
About the nationalities,Chikage and Yukio are Japanese.Erina is British.
Also the idea of France came to my mind after watching Vanitas no carte,an other anime which adapts the manga of Jun Mochizuki.
