Keiji is a delinquent. He skips class, he smokes, and ultimately, he’s just a pain in the ass for everyone in his school. Yet beneath all that, Keiji has a dream nobody expects: he wants to go to university. Nobody believes him. How could they? He’s an idiot, too dumb to learn and too lazy to try. And so Keiji studies. He studies day in and day out, week upon week. He studies to prove everyone wrong, to prove himself wrong.
When the day of the exam comes, Keiji runs away, without even writing a word. “Of course he couldn’t do it,” his peers sneer behind his back. “We all knew it.”
As he runs, Keiji stumbles upon a dark theatre and at his lowest moment, witnesses a Kabuki show. Keiji is spellbound by the beauty and elegance. Above all, it is Jun, the starring Onnagata— a man who plays the roles of women— who steals Keiji’s heart by offering him an unexpected kindness without judgment or scorn.
nd so a love blossoms, both on stage and behind it, where the world cannot glimpse.
This is not a typical prose story, but rather the raw script written for my web manga 'Onnagata.' I highly encourage reading the web manga where possible, as it by far the best way to enjoy this story.
