Jonathan Townshend makes his living as a mercenary in a land where technology has pushed humanity beyond its limits. Yet conflicts are still fought with bladed weapons, enhanced in countless ways to better kill other humans. Everything goes wrong for him when his mercenary group steals the world's first Pistol, believing they were getting into a job like any other. As if that wasn't enough, on the run they stumble upon a ghost town. Which in reality is just empty of human life. This leads them to discover a conspiracy in the shadows that promises worse changes for the world than the development of the first Pistol.
