Synopsis

From dragon slaying to herb collecting, from fighting Demon Lords to cleaning sewers, adventurers and Adventurers' Guilds were once ubiquitous. The envy of many, people from the rich to the poor, from royalty to slaves flocked to the Guild to have a chance at glory.

Yet, the age of adventurers has ended, and the last branch of the Guild has dissolved long ago. But what led to their downfall? Why did the dragon-slaying heroes, the all-knowing sages and goddess-blessed priests disappear into the annuls of history? Was it because they attracted the ire of kings and queens? Or because of the church's condemnations? Or was it because of the heroes' betrayal of humanity? Or maybe it was something else?

Follow Professors Kohaku F. Concordia and Patrik Brzęczyszczykiewicz, as they attempt to see the issue from a socioeconomic perspective in their paper.

Note from author

I had the idea to write about the collapse of fantasy organisations --- for example the Adventurers' Guild --- by taking a somewhat realistic approach to it.

The format I settled on is a fictitious research paper, which would allow me to dump information freely and limit the length of the piece.

Update might be somewhat sporadic and the piece might be somewhat dry to read. But if you are interested in world building, then please do take a read!
