I love the super-long comment!
I feel my story is more in line with a slice of life than traditional stories due to how long the series goes. A theme that frequently comes up is how people in power don't truly have power, only the illusion of it. This is why, later in this chapter, we see things from Valessandria's point of view.
Though they don't appear frequently, I have inserted some plots that hint that more things are at play. Again, the problem is that this story is meant to be tens of millions of words long -- far beyond my lifespan.
I'll need to do better with showing things from other characters' viewpoints, which is what I do in Zombie World (Book 2). But some characters are meant to come and go, not necessarily as important in the main book line. I want characters to appear in spinoff series, where readers can be like, "oh, I remember that character that wasn't significant then but now takes on a larger role." This is why there'll be a sense of branches going away from the main story as characters are introduced.
It's probably best to think of the story I'm writing as the main storyline of a massive universe full of characters and stories others may write down the line.
I hope I don't sound overly pretentious. o(* ̄▽ ̄*)ブ
