Hello again! Feyblue here, back at it again with another small explanation of my weeaboo nonsense.
Though this time the name explanations are partly included in the chapter itself, with regards to Ayame's username, ImmortalIris -- the reasoning behind Kei's "Hakuryuu" bears explaining.
As revealed in this chapter, his last name is actually "Shirayanagi," which is written with the characters for "white" and "willow." However, in Japanese, most Kanji can be read two different ways. The kanji for white, normally read as "shiro" or "shira," can also be read as "Haku." It still means the same thing, it's just pronounced differently in some words.
Likewise, the Kanji for willow is normally read as "Yanagi," but in a few specific cases, it's read as "ryuu," which sounds identical to the word for "dragon" -- hence his choices with regards to his avatar's race and appearance.
Been sitting on this pun for a while, so it's good to finally get it out there, lol.
Anyway, thanks for reading! Today's chapter was pretty short, but there are big things coming now that we're through the introductory arc. On Saturday, we'll get to hear more about how Iris got here -- and then we can finally begin Iris and Kei's first adventure as a proper party!
Look forward to it! ^^
