I had a few ideas for stories in the same universe, but those will probably have to wait until I'm out of the running for the contest, as I think they advised against writing sequels and stuff while it was ongoing.
I'm just a hobbyist, so take what I'm saying with a grain of salt. For this, I had about half of the story written in full before I started posting. I've also had the main through-line and three or four main story beats that I wanted to incorporate from the very beginning, and I essentially wrote the story around them. Historically I've had the same problem of tying up all the loose ends. What I can say with some level of certainty is that some story types lend themselves better to not having complete endings, as does having an unreliable narrator. I sort of just "let" things be unimportant. I figured that not all questions need profound answers.
