Ah, yes, I bet the Monsterpedia that Lovecleft pursed made him recall his own artistic ability. Especially an ambiguous period where he may or may not have done a few lewd drawings to pay some tuition. Obligatory horny joke aside given how passionate and thorough Lovecleft is. I bet he could produce some very exquisite and provocative art pieces in his spare time. And of course, that moment when one of your parents rush in with you are busy on your phone potentially dry humping your pillow like it is a French Girl. Then you have to quickly hide both items and steady your rapid breathing as they inquire what you are doing or asking how your day was.
I would have loved to have a dad like Kiro's not too many fond memories of my old man honestly. Best memory I have is when he let me choose between a PS1 and an N64 and I chose the PS1. Course that was well over a decade ago at this point and he passed on two years back. Point I am making is that Kiro should cherish his dad for being both supportive and involved with his upbringing. Many kids have to either rely on grandparents, foster parents, friends' parents, or relatives, or nobody at all whatsoever.
Another insight I have been neglecting to make is that this novel has the feel of a reverse isekai scenario. Not a watcher of isekai so know I am likely talking out my bunghole and that whatever I say should be taken with a grain of salt. But instead of the MC or MCs dying while nobodies and ending up in a place with odd creatures yet where humanity is still in control, and they just so happen to be gifted godlike powers or bequeathed with a heroic mission. Here humanity seems to be virtually non-existent, and they have lived their lives in a world of monsters as just average people no fanfare or anything, but they still impact the world like everyone else. That also makes it odd when you consider certain races like that one insectoid Victoria in the last chapter. Given how insects can pray upon and cannibalize each other as well as differing species. Must make it difficult to be able to mature to adulthood. I bet things like adolescent would be made especially awkward.
