The cures is disgusting, yes, but you can't argue with the results. 😆

While I do feel that your idea would probably make the scenes better, I am afraid that too much time had passed since these past few chapters had been posted, not only on this site but others as well, and plenty of people had read them. By this point, I am reluctant to make too major a change to them and ask other readers to go read them again. I am afraid that I would rather just roll with the punches and try to make the best of what I can out of it.

If that is unacceptable to you, then I can only say that I am sorry. Having your feedbacks had been great, but I am not willing to make these changes.

I can't argue with that. Admittedly, my biggest mistake in this story is probably deciding to stick Theodore into a house and not allowing him to leave. Had I let him be enrolled as a regular apprentices, I probably don't have to rely so much on telling rather than just showing.

This is a flaw that I genuinely has no idea how to fix other than start over from the beginning.

Lastly, and I suppose this has to do more with my personal bias, is that I find the act of spiking someone's drink and blackmailing them to be rather reprehensible. Theodore has his reasons, sure, but I personally thought that there ought to be some consequences for that, but that is more about the direction I wanted the scene to paly out in and has little to do with the characters themselves, so this is more of an excuse than an actual reasoning.

She has witness the torture sessions, yes.

And as for killing Theodore, it wasn't so much that she was sure he'll rat her out but more so that she can't afford to take even the slightest chance as she essentially living in a city where most people have guns for hands, and those guns shoots fires balls. (Slight exaggeration, of course, but hopefully you get what I mean.)

On the off chance that Theodore decides to rat her out, there's absolutely nothing she can do about it. Due the the curse placed on her, she can't even run away. Her curse had trapped her in this city and Theodore knowing her secret further drove her into a corner.

Then Theodore revealed his identity as the demon lord, which only gives her further incentives to kill him due to the effects the war had on her family.

Most of Albatross's desperation comes from the mage's torture methods, where they'll continue to torture you while casting healing magic. I didn't go into too much details, because I didn't want it to be too gory, but depending on how long a mage wants to torture you, the torment can go on indefinitely, keeping you alive long after you stop resembling a human being.

Oh, that's perfectly fine to dislike a character. Not to mention that I wrote her to be disagreeable in more than a few ways, so your reaction is perfectly understandable.

I should probably elaborate on this more in the chapter, but the reasoning is as follows:

While spite is a part of it, so long as a person is not fully dead, that is to say their brain hasn't ceased all activity, there is still a chance they could be saved, especially if potions or a mage skill with healing is involved.

For Albatross to have the assurance of death, she's going to have to make sure no one is going to try and 'save' her during the process of dying.
