I suppose I did make him appear too edgy at times. At the same time, I would say that he's also frustrated with the fact that his own freedom is restricted. For a kid that used to run around freely in the hills and the forests, this new life has been difficult to adjust to, especially knowing that the ones who took him in likely do not have good intentions for him (Fiana excluded) and the best he could hope for is their indifference.
Make no mistake, he's lucky that they did not just throw him into a jail cell somewhere or do something potentially worse, but at the same time, he's feeling like a child that used to have all the freedom in the world suddenly being grounded and had his privilege's taken away by people he doesn't even know or consider as family.
In my opinion, at least, it was only natural for frustrations and grievances to build up.
Of course, I understand being frustrated at the character in the current state. But I believe that you'll find him less dismal once he makes up his mind and takes action of his own, granting him a way to channel his frustrations. (I write multiple chapters in advance, you see.)
