Hi everyone!
I want to give a big thanks to anyone who spent the time to read re:deskny. Many happenings in this story, while not true to life, are sourced from personal experience, and I wanted the worlds of these characters, and their ultimate reconciliation, to be a kind of catharsis that feels grounded in something real.
Stylistically, I tried a lot of new things with this story. There are some formal aspects that were difficult to execute, and I also wanted to write this hyper condensed, incredibly rich textural novel. The dialogue also, which masks itself behind the esoteric nature of cultish language, was a challenge. Ultimately, I think there are things to shore up and improve, but I'm happy with a lot of the results.
Finally, some of the topics in the book are a bit heavy, so I feel the need to insert my own views very briefly. I tried my best not to hand wave grief and suffering with something simply saccharine. I'm not sure if I succeeded, but my hope is that people to come away from this story and feel that it bustles with the urge to just... live life the best that it can.
