I thought about having her stand up to them originally, but seemed like it would be the expected route and go against earlier implying that standing up to them could make it worse... or at least that was her experience in the past.

Her journey was actually more about accepting herself, the truth, and finding her place.

And that early on was more a 'maybe' for his feelings but, not really solidified until later o.o
