Thank you for reading and your comment. I'll fix up scientists. I had to debate with myself how I wanted to go about the pronouns. I settled on (,) continued the sentence and other instances of capitalisation. I don't know if there is a more correct way of doing it. Perhaps I'll look it up and see.

I agree with what the others have said about the Japanese. I had a similar issue with using sign language. what I did was use italics to establish this is sign language. you might want to try something like that to signal this is Japanese. On a side note I really love your story.
