Yah, I think it comes down to the theme of how Gideon started off wanting to be a hero with his powers (which is a typical shounen desire) and it ends with him being a teacher instead. With his limited time, he could only save a certain amount, but if he created to proper foundation for Roze, she could become better than he ever could.

It's wishful thinking. In the end, he was still selfishly doing things, as noted by how he kept things a secret. It's kind of funny how selfish and selfless at the same time you have to be as parent to raise kids. A pretty funny parallel here with Gideon and Roze, but that's where my mind gravitated to for this dynamic.

Gideon just be speedrunning.

Honestly, I don't think there's enough affection points between the party members that they'd risk fighting something as crazy as foot soldiers taking on a tank. And if the one guy shooting mortars at the tank says, 'run!', they damn well keep up. 😂

Plus, Raffy, Milipitas and Ferdy are all experienced fighters. They know risk/reward in an instant without needing to try out fighting an enemy, particularly with low incentive to beat the golem. Without Gideon's 'guarantee', the party doesn't really hold together.

Anyways, that's the reasoning behind why I did it this way.

It just felt like it would be too cheesy and drawn out if I had Roze see all the futures that she failed up until this point. It's better told in visual media, and it kind of pulls away from the main point - which is to never discount your own abilities.

There would be better times to reference those in a later volume, as the occasion calls for it. I can see Roze and Gideon recalling those tidbits of failures to continue helping them out.

Besides, I dunno how many times people have made one stray comment and it just spirals me into the solution. So it was also kind of a statement of how 'no matter how much time we spend preparing, something stupid can just change everything'. 😂

Keep in mind that this is showing only the timeline for the latest cycle - the one that finally overcomes it. GIdeon went through an untold number of cycles that set up all of this and likely ended up with either Roze giving up or spending her life trying. The reality of that situation is skipped. It's still there but elaborating further becomes a dull thing that most people wouldn't care to read.
