I've been building up to this conflict with the town for a bit in the background, but I'm a little worried that I might've gone too hard/fast on the tone shift for this arc.
Also, if anyone thinks I might need a TW at the beginning of the chapter for this, please let me know. I wasn't certain or not about it.

I think you're doing well with that now. Sure, at times it feels like maybe a little more could be said, but I personally prefer it over information overload where it becomes more like a chore to process everything.
The transition was a little jarring going from present to flashback, but it was interesting to learn more about how this started
