Thank you for the feedback! That is true, I put Karin to create empathy with the slaves circumstances—but I also try putting her here so I can add a lighter chapter with simpler words, because the first three chapters used a lot of heavier lexicon. Something of a cooldown, so to speak, and because Karin will play an important role later on—actually all of the PoV characters will play important roles down the road, so I don't add that many different PoVs and things will slim down a lot as we go, so I hope you can bear with me for a bit as we set the grounds up 😅

I'm making the letters and non-letters alternate to progress through time whiel providing context—but I suppose it is true that the time difference between letters could be a bit janky, lol. It should flow much smoother starting from the halfway mark, though, because the story grows more linear later on, so look forward to it!

And even getting to that point also involved a lot of internal politicking until the public leaned towards favoring abolition, which was on its own not a bloodless effort. The abolition of slavery is such an interesting topic imho, the reason I wrote this was partly because I wanted to see it seriously addressed, even if in a rather heavily simplified manner. 😅
