Ooh, it's very interesting to me that you even noted your immediate response and analyzed it as well. I'm happy to hear that—I've always wanted to wirte something that could tickle someone to also internally think, so I see this is a huge win!
And yes: even indentured servitude was not without its opponents in the real world when it was first implemented. And even today we still have inequality issues—it's a really long road to reach real equality for all, but I feel that we need to really think about every step we hage taken. Those who do not learn from history are cursed to repeat it—it's partly why I actually modeled the escalation of the situation here on an actual country's fight against slavery 😉
