In case it comes up again in the future, it might be useful to know that cauterisation requires prolonged contact with a heated element. Sudden heat is actually likely to flash vaporise the surrounding flesh and make the bleeding much worse. I know there might be other nerds like me in the audience so I figured it was worth noting lol

I’ll be honest, some of the prose in the fight scene is quite repetitive and some of the wording feels clumsy. Like using the word “happened” twice in the space of three words. It made the scene a little difficult to follow and occasionally even a chore to read.
That being said I’m fairly happy with the ending. I’m glad “Abigail” had definitely become “Estelle” and I think Celine sparing the other two moons but forcing them into an unbreakable vow was the right way to end it.
Overall I am glad I read this, but I feel like the last few chapters could have done with some serious editing. It’s a lot of content that happens very fast and that makes it quite difficult to follow at times.

I enjoyed the combat for the most part, but honestly it does become very difficult to read when the flow of a scene is broken by hundreds of words of uninterrupted expostion. This feels sort of like two separate scenes stitched together with neither really working the other.

I’m also not the biggest fan of Estelle being reduced to a tearful listener with barely any lines or reactions. Throughout the story we’ve seen the Abigail and Estelle personas sort of fight for dominance, and this should be a scene where Estelle either collapses back into the suffering of Abigail or stands strong and defiant as Estelle, but instead it feels a little more like we as the audience are getting exposition, much of which we already knew, just with her as the vehicle. The lore and geopolitics is interesting but I don’t think this was the best way to do it

Celine feels like the ultimate example of “it’s lonely at the top.” I can’t imagine there’s many people who would keep up with the lifestyle of someone like her, but considering how powerful she has she really has no other choice.

By the way, I know I already asked about the kingdom names, but do the main character names have an etymology behind them? I’m guessing Celine comes from “Selene” as the word for moon?
