Small correction: "ein" is German for "a". If you specifically want "the", you need "der" (m)/"die" (f)/"das" (n), in this context "der".
Also, since I'm recently interested in anything Japanese related, I looked up if there's something better than "ichi" as well: There is for example 一つ=ひとつ="hitotsu" (or probably in this context rather 一り=ひとり="hitori", because it's a person, but the dictionary I'm using doesn't even list that), which can mean "one" or "only" (as in "the only cat god"), but "ichi" can not only mean "one", but also "best", "first" or "beginning", so I guess that fits the character's self-image even better. And there's also 単=タン="tan"=single/sole, but that would definitely be misunderstood without context. Also, the dictionary not only translates 単 to single/sole, but also 単独, the second of those characters having "Germany" as an alternate meaning. And now I'm back to the beginning of this comment, what a nice loop.
