I was team "oblivious" as well, but if I were to go down that route it would be limiting. I feel her being royalty from a distant time period made more sense. It's kind of like a fish out of water story. While one could argue she'll still be oblivious to some extent, it won't be extreme. Think of it like someone re-adjusting to the modern age.
As for Minato just believing her, I have a explanation for that. It's in his nature to always do the most for others. No matter who they are, pr how they've previously treated him; Minato will never turn his back from someone in need. So, seeing the girl in such a vulnerable state, pouring her heart out to him pushed him to accept that what she said was the truth.
Another reason is honestly just him being a simp who hides that he's a simp pretty well. After realizing that their encounter wasn't a product of him dreaming, he was intrigued. So I feel as though a part of him is like "The one thing I thought would never happen is happening so I might as well roll with it."
