Chapter 266: Family Visit

Narrator: Zeth’s catch-up talk with Sasha and Salina continues.

Zeth: Yeah, my memory is still fuzzy on some things.

Salina: Well then, let me show you.

*Salina goes into her Devil Demon form*

Zeth: You’re a demon?

Salina: You bet. My purpose in life is to serve Princess Sasha and whatever she desires.

Sasha: Trust me, she is telling the truth about that.

Zeth: So, she is like your own personal assistant?

Sasha: I guess you could say that.

Zeth: I guess I need to be caught up on the world as a whole. What has become of the Crow Beak Divine Killers?

Sasha: Harmona told me that after that battle 42 years ago, they retreated. However, they haven’t been seen since then. It’s possible that they have given up and disbanded but come on, when have things ever been that easy for us?

Zeth: You’re right about that.

Sasha: There is the possibility that they have left the country and set up base in a different country.

Zeth: Harmone is an island country, a big one, but still an island nonetheless. That would be impressive to leave without being seen.

Sasha: Just don’t bet on them being gone.

Zeth: Does the rest of the world know about the attempted invasion?

Sasha: Nothing official was ever said about it but the information about the attempted invasion was leaked and now the rest of the world has been anxious. In the last great chaos, most of the major battles took place in this country, but the rest of the world still took damage.

Zeth: Damn. They shouldn’t be living their lives in fear.

Sasha: I agree.

Zeth: I need to go and see my step-parents. I’d like to ask you to come but I don’t think I should stop you from doing what you are doing.

Salina: No problem. I can finish up their training while Princess Sasha goes with you.

Sasha: Agreed. I’m going with you.

*Zeth and Sasha stand up and smile*

Zeth: Since it has been 42 years, I guess this is the part where I say “Just like old times”.

Sasha: Seems appropriate.

Salina: You can count on me to finish up the mortals’ training, Princess Sasha. If you need me, you know what to do.

Narrator: A few days later, Zeth and Sasha are in Zeth’s home city, Kunasha City.

*The city appears to have some new buildings as well as defense upgrades in the form of magic cannons around the city*

*As they walk through the city, Sasha notices something about Zeth*

Sasha: Did Harmona tell you about your natural power increase?

Zeth: She didn’t mention anything of the sort but on the way here, I did notice I was faster.

Sasha: For the first few hundred years of a divine being’s life, their power will naturally increase even without training.

Zeth: So you are saying we are much stronger than we were 42 years ago?

Sasha: Correct. Although you don’t really look much older than you did 42 years ago, you have gotten more muscular and just a little bit taller. Of course, these same increases apply to me too. Now, I’m 5 feet, 11 inches tall after growing an inch over the past 42 years. You look like you grew two inches.

Zeth: So if we have gotten stronger continuously over the past 42 years, then we should be better able to handle the forces of Hell.

Sasha: It’s not enough though. We still have a long road ahead of us.

Zeth: Dang.

*Soon, they reach the house of Zeth’s step-parents. It certainly looks like it has been maintained over the last 42 years. They go up to the front door*

Zeth: Now that I think about it, I didn’t ask if they still live here. I guess we will find out.

*Zeth rings the doorbell. The door starts to open. At the door is Zeth’s stepmom, Miranda. She looks mostly the same she did 42 years ago except her black hair is now somewhat longer*

Miranda: Zeth? Zeth, is that you!?

Zeth: Yes, mom it’s me.

*Miranda hugs Zeth so tightly that it almost starts choking him*

Miranda: I’m so happy to see you again!

Zeth: I’m happy to see you too, mom! But you’re going to start choking me!

*Miranda then lets go of him and he catches his breath*

Miranda: Oh! Sorry! I got a little carried away!

*Miranda looks at Sasha and smiles*

Miranda: Hi, Sasha.

Sasha: Hello.

Miranda: Both of you come inside.

*They are then all sitting in the living room and Zeth’s step-dad, Jack, is there too. The difference with him is that he is bald now*

Zeth: Dad, you’re bald now?

Jack: I was starting to go bald anyway.

Miranda: I’m so glad you came to stop by.

Zeth: Yeah, my biological mother told me that she had temporarily halted your aging so that you could see me again.

Miranda: And we are thankful for that, especially with it being done off her own power.

Jack: Indeed. We might have already kicked the bucket if not for that.

Miranda: With this meeting taking place, the halting of our aging will come to an end. You’re not in a hurry to go somewhere, are you?

Zeth: No. Actually, I was wondering if we could stay the night here.

Miranda: Absolutely!

Zeth and Sasha: Thank you.

Jack: After all these years, we certainly have a lot to catch up on.

Narrator: Zeth and Sasha spent the rest of that day with Zeth’s step-parents, enjoying themselves. It was nice for them to finally get to relax for once. They got to go do things in the city during the day. At night, they were back in their home and enjoyed playing board games, card games, and other fun activities. For just this one day, it felt as if there was nothing wrong in the world.

Narrator: The next day.

*Zeth and Sasha are preparing to leave*

Zeth: We had a nice time. Hopefully, we can come by again soon.

*Zeth and Sasha start leaving*

Miranda: Take care! Remember to keep us up to date!

Jack: You can come back any time!

*Zeth and Sasha wave back at them*

Zeth: We will! Thank you again for letting us stay with you for a day!

Sasha: Yeah! We had a lot of fun!

*Zeth and Sasha are now out of view. Miranda and Jack remain on the front porch*

Jack: Who knew we’d end up raising the son of the Light Goddess?
