Chapter 2:

Th Enigmatic Encounter

Love's Fragile Pulse

It's been a week since I got discharged from the hospital after the accident and my life seems pretty normal, except some family members which I don't see until Winter Break are here and they have all been looking after me at all times even when they're not supposed to...

"...LIKE WHEN I'M IN THE BATHROOM TAKING A BATH!" That was days ago though.

I can't really do much too, my mom says it might hurt me... I don't understand why she's saying that because I always did the same thing way before the accident but I have to comply with what she says since she did look after me while I was in the coma. In the middle of my morning thoughts and changing into my clothes I heard footsteps coming to my room.

"Hiroshi breakfast is ready"

Oh, it's just my older sister Yuki. The only one who has been acting normally to me after the accident.

"Why are you still here staring, the food's going to get cold." She said with an annoyed face.

"Can't you see I'm in the middle of dressing-up?" I yelled at her angrily.

"You could do that faster you know?" She said while shutting the door.

Yup, she's still rude and mean as always. I think that's what people call sibling love or something, wait but was she ever this rude to me before? Ah oh well, no time to think about it now, I gotta hurry before she comes up here again with a wooden spoon in her hand.

"Morning Mom" I said while walking down the stairs.

"Oh good morning dear, how are you today?" My mom asked while serving in the kitchen doing dishes.

"Once again, I'm fine Mom." I replied.

"Oh that's good, that's good"

As I was eating, a small figure came out walking from the room in front of me. It was my little sister Rie, just waking-up.

"Good morning Mom, big sis Yuki and big bro Hiro" She said while doing a big yawn.

"Hey Rie, how was your sleep?" I responded with a soft smile on my face.

"It was nice! I dreamt about a Tiger coming in our house, but it was a friendly one though! He didn't kill us, he helped us do work around the house" She answered happily.

"Aww that sounds nice" I replied.

"Mhm! Is that Omurice?" She asked Yuki.

"Yeah, you want some?" Yuki replied.

"Yeah!" Rie answered ecstatically.

Immediately after breakfast, there was a knock on the door and I went to check who it was. Turns out it's my friend Karu, and Nick also came along they basically came to catch up with me, because it is Saturday and they completed all their homework last night. They also, talked about the three of us going out together to a park or the movies. It seemed like they really missed me.

My mom then suggested we should go to the orphanage we used to visit a lot during our free time, she said I haven't been there ever since the accident and I should say hi to everyone there and also keep some of the children company. Now that I'm thinking about it, I kinda don't remember ever coming to this part of the neighborhood before. While remembering where we were, Nick said "We're here."

"It's across the street, idiot." Karu replied.

"Uh, I-I totally knew, I was just testing to know whether you'd remember or not haha" Nick said nervously.

As I looked at the building, it felt like a bunch of memories and feelings flooding my mind. It kinda felt nice to be honest. We walked across the street to knock on the door and it took a while for someone to open the door, it turned out to be the head of the orphanage. She really looked excited to see us and she asked how I was feeling, when I told her I'm good she had a very relaxed but slightly sad look on her face.

"Did you come see the kids?" She asked calmly.

"Yeah, we came to hangout with them." Nick replied.

"Alright, come in." She said.

The interior brought back even more memories flowing in my brain, it really does seem like we came here a lot before the accident occurred. Ms. Aria said the orphans haven't woken up yet because we came too early...it's 8:29am by the way, and she said we should make ourselves feel at home and stay somewhere the kids won't see us, because if they do, they won't eat breakfast and they would want to play with us instead.

We all split up to different places to stay, I went to the garden behind a tree where I thought no one was, until I saw some movement. I thought it was one of the orphans, when I decided to peak... it was her, the girl that was in my hospital room, she was in a white shirt and black pants and her hair was tied up into a very pretty bun. I was about to ask her what her name was before I heard

"BIG SIS HARUKA! WE NEED YOU"

"OH, I'M COMING" She responded to the child

Oh that's her name? Haruka...such a beautiful name.
