Chapter 2:

game of luck

Coffee, sugar and love

When suddenly the sky opened up and a downpour of rain started.

“Huh where did she go? “I thought but I have no time to worry about that

I quickly looked around for shelter, and saw a bus shelter nearby. I quickly ran over and took shelter inside, hoping to avoid being soaked by the rain

My clothes were soaked, and I was shivering cold. I couldn't leave the waiting shed, for I had nowhere to go.

Soon, I realized I was standing next to a girl around my age, clad in a hooded jacket. She didn't speak up, but we both stayed silent, observing the rain as it poured steadily outside. I could hear the raindrops hitting the roof, and the soft humming of the streetlights.

I found myself enjoying the companionship of this stranger, even if we didn't say much.

Realizing i was staring at her, she glanced towards me and let a faint smile

"Good evening "she greeted. Her voice was gentle and soft; it was like a soothing melody in the air. It was hard not to get lost in his gaze, and I couldn't help but be in awe at the beauty of his presence.

"ni-nice weather were having "I responded

"Is it? “She asked as he looked away and smiled gently

As the rain continued to fall, the girl next to me suddenly turned to me and handed me his umbrella. Without saying a word, he stood up and walked into the pouring rain, leaving his umbrella with me.

I found myself smiling with the thought that I had done all in my power, and fate would decide if I found a job or not.

Should I really go to school just like what I promised to carol? I thought as I gaze up the envelope I had

“I don’t know anymore……”

Next day

I was sitting alone in the classroom, looking out the window. It was a rainy day, and the sky was grey, but my thoughts were more vibrant and colorful than ever. In my table, I was still holding the folded umbrella the stranger last night gave to me. Its vivid colors brought a smile to my face, despite the gloomy weather.

And as I stared out the window, I suddenly heard footsteps coming towards me. I looked up and it was Carol.

She noticed the folded umbrella in my table and asked, “I see you have an umbrella; where did you get it from?”

Oh, it's nothing special. I actually got it from a stranger last night. It was raining, and they were kind enough to give it to me.

I responded, “Oh, it's nothing special. I actually got it from a stranger last night. It was raining, and he was kind enough to give it to me.”

“A stranger?! That's interesting. Do you know who this person was?

Unfortunately, no. I don't know their name or anything else about them. But I'm still grateful for the act of

She walked over to me and handed me a box of "Here you go, Kenny" Carol said. "I baked these for you.

“That’s so sweet of you thank-“

Suddenly, Carol walked by and noticed the letters embodied on the handle. She came over to me and asked, "What’s with the folded umbrella? I noticed something on the handle."

I looked down and saw that the handle of the folded umbrella read "Café de Amour."

She said, “Maybe it belongs to that café and you should visit it to return it to the owner. Who knows, you might meet the kind stranger from last night. Or, maybe it was someone else who forgot their umbrella at the café. Either way, it would be good to return it. What do you think?"

I responded, "You're right. I might get lucky and find the kind stranger. And even if I don't find her, I can still return the umbrella to the café so they can find its owner. I'll call you later and let you know how it went. Thanks for the cookies and see you later carol!"

And with that, I waved goodbye at Carol and left the classroom to go visit the café "Café de Amour."

The sun was setting down as I left the school and headed towards the European style café .The cafe was charming and inviting as I walked inside.

The cafe was bustling with activity and it had an old-world charm that I found appealing. The smell of fresh coffee and pastries filled the air, and the vibrant colors of the sun setting down painted the room in a glorious hue.

A boy around my age, wearing a uniform, walked towards me and said, "You must be the new barista. Errol, right?"

A boy, around my age, walked towards me and said, "You must be the new barista. Errol, right?""I'm Luca, your supervisor and trainer," he added.
Luca's uniform consisted of a black dress shirt with a black bow tie, black dress pants, and black dress shoes. He also wore a black apronhis uniform was typical of a high-end café, and it was designed to be both stylish and comfortable. The black dress shirt and black dress pants were both made of high-quality material, and were ironed to perfection. The black bow tie tied the whole outfit together, while the black dress shoes added a touch of elegance.

"Come on, your shift is about to start."I was confused but followed him as he pulled me away. I couldn't help but think, "Is he mistaking me for someone else? Why is he calling me erol?" But I didn't dare to ask because I didn't want to break his heart. he was so excited to meet me for the first time that I just kept silent.

As I tried to understand the situation, the cashier took me to the cafe's lounge. She enthusiastically introduced me to a girl, saying, "Lesley. meet Errol! He’s our new barista! Isn't he just lovely?"

I was taken aback by his reaction, but I took a seat anyway. I was so confused. Why was he referring to me as erol? Was this a mistake? I was too embarrassed to correct him. So I just stayed silent and greeted the girls with a small smile.

As I looked around the cafe lounge, I noticed a girl who seemed familiar. Suddenly, one of the girl stood up from her seat and came over to me. She extended his hand to shake mine, and said, "Errol, is it?

“Is it really you? Oh you must be the boy from the bus station last night? Did you make it home safely? I can't believe we met again”

"Actually, I came to return your umbrella," I said. "It was very kind of you to offer it to me last night at the bus station when it was raining."

I handed the folded umbrella to her when suddenly, the barista from earlier came rushing into the room and interrupted us. “Don’t flutter Errol too much and get back to work Lesley! “he said and held my hands” Glad to have you onboard "Errol, I will start your training now. Come with me."

Come, we have a lot to do and I won't accept any more delays. Get ready!”

I was confused. I couldn't quite understand what was going on. I’m not Errol

I just smiled and followed the baristas lead.

I looked over at luca and realized that I had no choice but to play along. At the moment, I couldn't afford to raise any more suspicion. I had no idea how long I would have to keep up my cover and pretend to be Errol.

So, I joined the cashier and took my place behind the counter. He quickly taught me the basics of making coffee and using the counter area. Despite the strange feeling inside my heart, I tried to follow her instructions carefully. Perhaps I could find out more about this peculiar situation if I played along for now and kept my curiosity under wraps.

Something was definitely wrong why was the cashier calling me Errol? I wasn't Errol My name was Kennedy. And then it hit me. And the barista didn't know me. I was a stranger to them. So who were they confusing me with?

I’m not deceiving them right?

Or am i?
