Chapter 3:

lies and deceit

Coffee, sugar and love

Some time had passed after my fake "Shift" at the cafe and I was having dinner with carol at the local restaurant near by school. I couldn't wait to tell her about my day so far "Guess what, Carol!" I said. "I've had such an awesome day already. I found out where the umbrella came from and returned it to its rightful owner who happens to be working at that cafe. Her name is Lesley"

Carol nodded along as she listened, and after I finished, she said” That's wonderful! You must have had quite an adventure today. Do you think you could see her again??"

I nodded "Well, yes because there's one weird thing that happened," I said to Carol. "Turns out the supervisor at the café mistook me for someone else named Errol. Now, everyone thinks I'm the new barista they hired for the café. I know, it doesn't make any sense. But they all seem to believe it, and I just don't know how to clear the misunderstanding"

I didn't want to correct the supervisor and create any more confusion, so I played along and worked for the rest of the afternoon, pretending to be the “new barista” and I couldn't help but feel like an impostor. I wasn't the new barista, I was just a random boy passing by hoping to find the owner of the umbrella which happen to be also working at that café, and I wanted them to know the truth, especially if they were expecting someone else to show up for their shift. “I added

Carol looked so concerned "I think it would be best if you don't go back to that café anymore Kenny. The real Errol might show up and then you would be in trouble for stealing someone's identity."

I didn't know how to respond to that. I felt a little uncomfortable with this new role I was playing, and I didn't want to cause any more trouble. "But Carol, what if I keep pretending to be Errol and work here as a barista?" I asked.

"I could save enough money and no one would be deceived because I am actually working there. I just need to pretend to be the barista they thought me to be."

Carol thought about it for a moment and then said, "I see your point, kenny. If you can handle the burden of pretending to be Errol and still do your job well, then I guess there's no real harm"

Growing up I was all about science and experiments

In my previous school, I always rocked in science competition despite being a nerdy outcast. I was quite shy and kept to myself for the most part, which earned me a reputation as a nerd. But strangely enough, Carol, the most popular girl at school, was my friend.

I never really understood why she wanted to spend time with me over the other popular kids, but I was grateful for it

When Carol and I graduated elementary school, her family became rich and were able to send her to one of the prestigious academy. Saint Palantine Academy is known for its high standards of education and exclusive teaching faculty as well as .Carol knew I had always wanted to go to this academy but didn't have the financial means to do so.

So, Carol's parents agreed to pay for me to take the entrance exam, and luckily, I passed it. I was incredibly grateful to Carol's parents for giving me this opportunity and for believing in my potential despite coming from a modest background.

Although St. Palantine Academy was originally a music school and may be famous for its outstanding musical education, it still supports sports and other extracurricular activities commonly seen in other high schools. Which is the general department .my favorite part of the school is the library, which is unlike any other library I've ever seen. It almost feels like Hogwarts, with its high ceiling, cozy atmosphere, and endless rows of books. It's a place where I can get lost in my own little world of reading and escape from the stress of real life for a while.

The problem is Students from both sides of the curriculum distanced themselves and began to discriminate. Musical curriculum students considered themselves saint palatines Paramount and thought general education was unneeded. While general education students were sickened by the music ends attitude and began to despise classical music

We started walking making our way out from the restaurant when Carol takes a moment to stop and rummage in her bag. She then pulls out a VIP student ticket, which she hands to me with a smile.

"What's this for?" I ask, confused.

"It's for the Academy intramural musical concourse"

“For me?” I was so excited I couldn't help but to give her a big hug. I had been waiting for this day for so long and I was so happy that we were finally going!

"yup.I got it from the administration office” she giggled

Why the music concourse is seems big deal of them?''i asked when i remembered how everyone in my class reacted to it

‘‘Because anyone who got chosen as participants in saint Palantine academy are given privileges such as preference to saint palantine university scholarships, private practice rooms and many more!''

When i noticed someone so familiar i couldn’t help but to stare at her and before i realize we confusedly stared at each other the moment our eyes met

It was the same girl from the café, the one I returned the umbrella to. She was staring at me, with a confused look on his face.

I was about to call her when someone bumped into me from behind and I lost my balance. Before I knew it, I was lying flat on the floor, the breath knocked out of me. I turned to find Carol reaching out to help me up. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" she asked, her face full of confusion and concern.

My brain was a bit scrambled after my fall,

"Sorry!" the girl who bumped into me exclaimed “I apologize for bumping into you but I was lost in thoughts that I completely failed to notice your presence"

I looked up, I saw that the person who had bumped into me from behind was a girl She was wearing a plain light blue shirt with a dark colored tie, pristine white blazer, dark blue skirt,

A pair of brown Shoes and dark blue socks.

''..."saint palantine music department uniform?"i thought

Suddenly, an angel run towards us and offered to help me stand up. I took her hand and gladly accepted her help.

"What my friend is trying to say is that she’s clumsy "Lesley said "but she’s very sweet and harmless. Hi I'm Lesley and this is my best friend peanut" he added

I smiled at him and said, “It’s me Errol, we already met each other from at the café while ago" But she just kept looking at me with confusion on his face, as if he couldn't believe that it was me

"my name is not peanut its radia but you’re okay right? “The girl with long jet black hair asked with a worried look on her face
