Thanks again!! The "prologue" chapter came later in the conception of the story so this for awhile was the first chapter, so I do hope there isn't too much of a tonal whiplash. Jackson as a character is someone I put a lot of my teenage self into, that almost desperate need for meaning I feel a lot of us seek when we're younger. I'm glad you're rooting for him, he's been one of my favourite characters to write.

Just finished what will likely be the final edit on these opening chapters with Jackson and Harper. Laid the groundwork for some stuff later in the story, and I feel this gives a bit more of an insight into Jackson as a character.

And we reach the end of this first major arc. I'm really happy with what I've written and hope everyone whose followed along has enjoyed it well. From now until May 7th when the contest ends I'm going to be doing some pretty intense editing of the story (including adding a prologue and a chapter or 2 to flesh out Jackson a bit more as I think he's a bit lighter on character stuff than Harper).

And this brings an end to the brief flashback into Harper. Hope everyone enjoyed it. I also want to say it's unlikely I'll be able to post another chapter tomorrow as my brain is kinda fried from moving and writing these chapters in quick succession. So probably no chapter tomorrow but Saturday the story continues, and the conclussion to this first major arc is on the horizon.
