Umm maybe at least it would have been clearer if you had added a bit of narration allowing to show that this a lack of feeling.

Though even given that you clarified your intentions I have difficulties to find that stiffness coherent because of previous events. To give just one example, if Hoshina was truly that unsensitive then she wouldn't have reacted that vividly when she saw in the first chapter that woman about to be raped. Having read the current chapter, I would almost expect her to say smth like ''Oh. Ok." instead. To say she wasn't unsensitive at all to me until now
