I'm an amateur writer for about 30 years, but I took it more seriously in the last 15 years. I write anime and light novel inspired stories. Shift is my primary story, but I do have others both completed and in progress. If there is a desire to see them as well let me know and I can work on it.

Didn't everyone already know what she was? I feel like the phrase has been repeated several times. Really getting confused. But an answer of sorts to what was buried. Though even that is still poorly defined and explained still that I'm having make a lot of leaps to connect dots.

I'm still trying to grasp how the system functions. A whole fight happened, but I don't understand any of the mechanics of why it happened or how. I'm feeling really lost right now.

Things are getting more confusing. There are containments in the city. Are they only for the Gate or for all of the spiritual things happening? Do other places in Japan function like this as well? Wards keep getting dropped but wards are often how districts or parts of cities in Tokyo and around Japan are referred, but there are also protective wards for spiritual things. And the clarity isn't great because the meaning could be either. And what Raven can do is really vague and what threat the Gate presents. The whole system has me asking more questions.

It's been said before I given how undefined the system is I don't know how literal to take it when you say the city is watching. Is the city actually sentient in a way from amassed magic? Or you just saying the government or organizational body that manages official spiritual matters is watching. It still also remains a little confusing, it's supposed to be public knowledge, but they're acting in a way that says it's not. At least how you describe it, like they don't want their magic work to be noticed. It's a little confusing.

How many times has she been told that you've announced yourself to the spiritual world? I understand there is a gradient, but it is funny that she's been told several times thanks to this last thing you did you're on everyone's radar. At a certain point she's just got to be like I can't be any louder than I already have been. Still trying to figure out what the whole system at play is. I'm guessing the story will cover it, but half way through the system still feels as mysterious at it began.

It's definitely a vibes thing. I haven't read the Dresden Files, but I know they're widely considered urban fantasy. I've read enough about the world to see why that is said, but without reading the actual books to get the vibes it is hard to say. I know a lot of people see the two as the same, but in my mind they are very distinctly different genres with clear differences, even if those differences can't always to be perfectly conveyed. A lot will say magic exist, thus its urban fantasy, but it is really a matter of how it exists, what the story does with it, how it fits in the world and what presentation it has. Because magic can still just be supernatural, more needs to exist to be urban fantasy than just magic. And it may be that without know the world building for your story I'll never know beyond a vibes. It is interesting nonetheless.

New information to add to the mysteries getting added. Charcoal as opposed to black is an interestingly specific detail that keeps popping up. It feels far too specific to just be nothing.

Getting activity involved with the other side. Still trying to feel out the vibes, it's reading really supernatural at the moment. But I need to see more. The power aspects are interesting, music or sound based powers are rarer to find.

True, though they did find a free clinic, but it is free for basic treatments. What Callein required as surgery and heavy medical care, they generally don't cover that and send that to the hospital. But when someone dying shows up doctor's going to work and deal with things after the fact.

New perspectives do wonders to change one's mind on matters. Ed's more world traveled than Shizuka, so he should generally be more cynical or pragmatic about things. Though due to his own personal family situation he has a blind spot there. But he does surprisingly have a concern about morality and ethics, even if he was working for a mercenary crew.

And the base is definitely not great. There is a vast amount of questionable things happening, things the story hasn't even started to get into yet. Some was definitely driven by survival. Others by more human desires. And when humans get involved things get messy and complicated fast.
