I'm an amateur writer for about 30 years, but I took it more seriously in the last 15 years. I write anime and light novel inspired stories. Shift is my primary story, but I do have others both completed and in progress. If there is a desire to see them as well let me know and I can work on it.

Would a Japanese student know Lazarus? But starting to get into the magical mystery side of things. Though I noticed you flipped from past tense to present tense and then back to past tense. Was that a mistake?

A flashback into an intense childhood. Though Yuki being an uploaded mind starting to make sense. Also guessing that you took the Yuki written as snow from the way that they are talking. And a good old bully beating scene, does wonders to see justice played out.

Yeah it is part of why she is the way she is. But she finds a friend in an unexpected place. I love all of the characters, but I am currently writing an arc focused on her right now, so she's my current fave at the moment, it's always shuffling.

But you have completed all the character introductions. So that means you have the approaching main plot now.

If Chiharu was a mature and fully developed adult, she would probably see it that way, to a degree. As a child, it was a personal thing. Her grandfather died, not Tamotsu's, so it should have been her. This goes beyond her training as a ninja and her as a human. She is honestly ignoring a lot of her training falling into emotions. But it is also really complicated for her as she admits, she couldn't kill. Something that she should have been able to do. So she is also beating herself up over the fact that she couldn't do the one thing that she was trained to do, kill. So it's a lot of things going beyond just being a ninja.

Thanks! I've had 700 chapters to play with them, but I do think Chiharu hits the ground running more than some of the other characters. But events also happen that really work to shape the other characters. But Chiharu is a rock.

I wasn't expecting a PoV flip, but it is granted what her perspective in all of this is like. Though you made black magic far more darker and grim than the standard. She had a very bad first run at life, more than she really let on. Though not surprising to see Trevor back as the tutor. I wasn't sure when it was brought up before if magic was innate or something trainable. Seems like you've made it something that can be acquired.

Technically yes, but in her mind it should have been her hand. It was what her family trained her to do, to be an assassin, a ninja. So for her its seeing it as a failure. She's got a very big inferiority complex and this is only feeding more into it. It's an unhealthy mindset, but it is what makes Chiharu a fun character.

I really enjoy her character. She has a lot of trauma, but makes for a really interesting character to follow. And she's got a lot of layers to work through.

Yeah clan wars that have been waging for years now. Chiharu's been dealing with a lot. And now she's completely alone. Yuki's coming from a very different environment trying to push his values. Not the best move, but he's a kid too. Mistakes going to happen, that's what makes it fun and dramatic. Well Chiharu is planning to go kill someone, she just needs that target. But yeah, it's getting complicated really fast.

Croaked right through all that blood. Chiharu is really messed up and puts a lot of pressure on herself. She is even younger than Yuki or Saki and dealing with clan politics, assassins and leadership. And she's not handling it nearly as well as Yuki, considering their similar positions.

They are both aimed at a female demographic, but yeah I'm not sure how to easily make a difference between them other than the media in which they are being presented in. But Yuki's really relaxed and chill and Saki's on edge. I had a lot of fun with Yuki in these chapters because he can just sort of be himself without all of the stress and drama of his personal life pushing him.
