(My first comment got accidentally deleted, so let me see if I can piece back together my thoughts lol)

The toxic aspects brought up was more of Vanessa's ignorence, much like when Yuri told her that Thorium reactors don't blow up. It was mainly me trying to think what the average person would be thinking about when put in those dangerous situations without much prior knowledge. So you’re completely correct that it's only real hazard is asphyxiation.

And as for why I picked Ar over N2, I've seen both used in fire suppression systems before (N2 more commenly like you mentioned) but the choice boiled down to which one sounded more cool/hazardous. Fewer people likely know Ar simply based on its abundance and usage when compared to N2, so assumedly they're more likely to be cautious of it by nature. There's more nuances to the choice I suppose, but I'm certainly not qualified to fully understand or explain them.

Btw, I'm so glad you guys are challenging the science here! I love talking and learning about these subjects! 😁

Iron Manor is based on an exaggerated parody of Stone Manor. The really big house on the west side of the lake. I made Iron Manor a lot bigger though then it's real life counter part. Apparently people have a hard time maintaining that house though lol

I'll definitely be touching on what directly caused the apocalyptic situation in future chapters, but as cool and likely as your theory of it taking place in Switzerland is, the story actually takes place in Wisconsin USA.

Lake Geneva is a location where a lot of well off business tycoons live/lived, especially those coming out of Chicago. It's a huge community and they often have a lot of tourism because of it. The lake there is absolutely stunning, especially when viewed from a boat. It's probably not as prepared for fallout/war as Switzerland, but it's got a lot of resources for sure, which is why I decided to make it pretty fortified in the story.
