NOOOO McDonald got away and Ralphy can't eat burgers anymore!😭 But you know what? Solving those is an adventure I hope we'll get to see some day! Probably! (Vol 2 pls?
)
Alright, Skelly, you outdid yourself with this book! It was fun and I really looked forward to every chapter being released. Like, honestly this was the funniest thing I've read in a while.
As for the characters: Randy and Ralphy were just the perfect duo for such a silly adventure. At first I was like, Why Randy? WHY!? But now I'm like, WHY NOT RANDY! WHY NOT!?! (Does that make any sense? I don't know... I'm running on three hours of sleep and dollar store ice coffee while listening to Ocean Man on loop😂)
Ralphy, as the voice of reason, was incredibly relatable up until I realized that Randy was some burger flipping prophet and Ralphy's reasonable requests would have, in fact, not gotten them nearly as far. Seeing him cope with his brothers antics was nothing short of hysterical and I loved his little crush on Mindy.
Mindy came toward the end, so she didn't get as much time as the brothers, but she added an interesting dynamic to the bunch that reminded me of this mech cartoon I used to watch as a kid. Ironically, the dudes in that show found a giant alien mech in a junk yard and they grafted their car to it. Mindy reminded me of the girl from that show who had to deal with super bros who fought monsters or something using the mech (I can't for the life of me remember what the show was called😅)
All the silly McDonalds parody stuff was great too. It was just so goofy and there was plenty of actually good critiques of modern fast food design philosophy, which I appreciate. In hindsight, I probably should have figured McDonald himself would be the main antagonist lol
BTW, that stupid Oo Oo monkey guy lives rent free in my head. I hope your happy 🤣🐵
As for the setting: 🌌-Space-🌌
The places we got to visit were silly and fun. Each location had something unique about it that really made a good impact on the story, which is weird because you wouldn't think places like a junk yard, bank, casino would ever be part of a journey to flip the perfect burgers in a janky rocket ship truck, but hey, it worked!
As for the story: The progression from penniless to making golden meat burgers just touched such a fun note in me. Like, it was like watching a shonen. the characters are slowly getting stronger and making the ultimate burger.
Overall, this story just was fun with a silly message tagged on. When it comes to starting a business, follow your heart and throw all your money away. It'll come back to you ten fold! (No don't actually do that unless your name is Randy from Space Chicago😂)
