Good writing otherwise, but the way the scene on the second half of the chapter went makes little sense. A bank robbery would be one thing, but a convenience store robbery is not really something where lives are usually lost. "No witnesses" policy is a big gamble: if it's just a small robbery, even if you threatened with a gun, if you get caught, you won't go to jail for a very long time. And the police won't be too interested in catching you for such a small amount of money. But a murder is different: the police will be hot on your tail and if you get caught, you'll sit for a long time. Secondly, why didn't the girl hide or run away when he distracted the robber? Thirdly, what stopped the robber from finishing the job and killing the girl anyway, after shooting the MC?
