I realllllly enjoyed Echo’s reveal. there were subtle hints right at the start, like him not being there when the giant stone creature returned to retrieve Sayane. And I really liked portraying his complexity from the get go. he is still learning not to despise the underworld because he was told to. the serum makes him admit he is starting this purely selfishly. I wanted to show that in rebellion and revolution, there will be all kinds of people who have to come together, all with different perspectives and motivations. his journey is tragic and compelling.

exactly! he’s revolutionary adjacent in his own way, but at the start of the story he’s also jaded and neutral. there’s some nice backstory that is steadily fleshed out. he hates how dogmatic and unrelenting the revolution is, but at the start of things he didn’t believe there was any alternative.

interesting perspective! I was writing him as fully supportive of Sayane’s autonomy so it’s very much just her decisions. through the story, you’ll see Azag speak up, but I think he also understands she wants and in some ways needs to throw herself into things fully. the Revolution certainly benefits from anything anti-Silence, but this is definitely not what they currently want. however, revolutions evolve…
