The only fancy words kids these days use are words from brainot memes like skibidi toilet and sigma smh. Anyway, I actually think you're a strong dialogue writer. Just that the vibe I got from the way the kids spoke and carried themselves felt a little older than high school. More like college students or even adults? Not saying you can't write teens, but I think your natural voice might be better suited for slightly more mature characters, or at least ones in more grounded, complex settings.

Honestly some of the best cliffhangers I've written just kind of... happen? Like no thought, just out of nowhere. I think you've got the skill for that kind of surprise. That said, one thing that's helped me with pacing issues is having a solid outline. Mine ended up being like... 30+ pages which OK that's overkill but it really did help me keep things consistent. Just a simple roadmap will do. Oh yeah, have I mentioned how great outlines are?

Oh! I was just joking about wanting to see more of the hot teacher. I didn't mind her being more of a background character. Sorry if my comment made you feel like you had to add more detail about her 😅

Looking back, I can see how each line in the vision scene connects to events that happen later, so the structure makes more sense now. That said, the pacing in that part felt a little... beefy... even with the re-read. I still think adding fewer cues with more emotional context could help immensely.
